637 - ALUMINUM SIGNS (TYPE G)

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The location and details of the fabrication, assembly and erection of the aluminum signs will be in accordance with the details shown on the plans.
2) The types and sizes of the aluminum signs must be shown on the plans.
3) Sign faces will be of the colors and types shown on the plans.
4) Sign messages will be of the sizes, types and colors shown on the plans.
5) The contractor's working drawings for each extruded aluminum sign will conform to the details shown on the plans.
6) Sign blanks will be of the sizes and shapes shown on the plans.
7) This is a plans quantity measurement Item.
8) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheets are available for this Item:

639 REVISING GUIDE SIGN MESSAGES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The location and types of overhead and/or roadside guide sign messages to be revised must be shown on the plans.
2) The Contractor's working drawings for signs to be modified will show the details of attaching messages to the sign face and the letter types and sizes, interline spacing and message arrangement in sufficient detail to verify conformance with the plans.
3) Existing messages to be revised and/or new messages to be furnished by the Contractor will be spaced and installed as shown on the plans.
4) Any existing message components that are removed and are designated to be reused must be shown on the plans.

644 - SMALL ROADSIDE SIGN ASSEMBLIES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The location and types of roadside sign assemblies must be shown on the plans.
2) The details for fabrication and erection of small roadside sign assemblies must be shown on the plans.
3) Foundations for the small roadside sign supports will be constructed to the details shown on the plans and are subsidiary to this Item.
4) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheets are available for this Item:

646 - SMALL ROADSIDE SIGN SUPPORTS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations of the small roadside sign supports must be shown on the plans.
2) The types and sizes of the small roadside sign supports must be shown on the plans.
3) The details for the fabrication and erection of steel supports used for small roadside sign supports will be shown on the plans.
4) The material for perforated fuse plates will be as shown on the plans and will not have an ultimate tensile strength exceeding that shown on the plans.
5) The lengths of each sign support and the sign mounting heights must be shown on the plans.
6) Foundations for the small roadside sign supports will be constructed to the details shown on the plans.
7) Stub posts will be of the type, spacing, orientation and projection shown on the plans and will project above the finished grade as shown on the plans.
8) The upper post sections will be connected to the stub post sections by bolts or other connection devices as shown on the plans.
9) The connection bolts will be torqued as shown on the plans.
10) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheets are available for this Item:

647 - LARGE ROADSIDE SIGN SUPPORTS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations of the large roadside sign supports must be shown on the plans.
2) The types and sizes of the large roadside sign supports must be shown on the plans.
3) The details for the fabrication and erection of the steel supports used for large roadside sign supports will be shown on the plans.
4) The material for perforated fuse plates will be as shown on the plans and will not have an ultimate tensile strength exceeding that shown on the plans.
5) The lengths of each sign support and the sign mounting heights must be shown on the plans.
6) Stub posts will be of the type, spacing, orientation and projection shown on the plans.
7) The upper post sections will be connected to the stub post sections by bolts or other connection devices as shown on the plans.
8) The connection bolts will be torqued as shown on the plans.
9) Foundations for the large roadside sign supports will be constructed to the details shown on the plans and will be paid for under Item 656.

648 - REPLACING OR REFURBISHING ROADSIDE SIGNS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations of the existing roadside signs to be replaced or refurbished must be shown on the plans.
2) Refurbishing the roadside signs can include new messages, sign panels and mounting hardware when shown on the plans.
3) New sign panels, button copy, reflectorized legend and/or supplemental signs will be installed as shown on the plans.
4) Any sign components that are removed and are to be reused will be shown on the plans.
5) Any sign components that are removed and are to be salvaged and become property of the State will be shown on the plans.

2) New foundations will be constructed to the details shown on the plans.
3) Any sign components that are removed and are to be reused must be shown on the plans.

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The delineators and object marker assemblies will be installed at locations shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.
2) The color and type of reflector unit(s) for the delineator and/or object marker assemblies must be shown on the plans.
3) Winged channel posts and flexible delineator posts will be installed such that the reflector units and/or reflectorized panels will be at the height shown on the plans.

659 - REMOVING DELINEATOR AND OBJECT MARKER ASSEMBLIES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

2) A note must be shown on the plans to notify the Contractor that posts which are deemed by the Engineer to be salvageable will be removed so that they will not be damaged by the Contractor's forces.
