SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Locations for installing the winged channel posts must be shown on the plans.
2) The length and mass of the winged channel post must be shown on the plans.
3) Winged channel posts will be installed such that the reflector units and/or reflectorized panels will be at the height shown on the plans.
4) The minimum embedment depth for the winged channel posts must be shown on the plans.
5) This is a plans quantity measurement Item.

662 - WORK ZONE PAVEMENT MARKINGS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The location and placement of work zone pavement markings must be shown on the plans for all roadways to be opened to traffic during construction.
2) The description specifying the type, color (white or yellow) and widths of the work zone pavement markings must be shown on the plans.
3) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheets are available for this Item:

  • WZ(STPM) Work Zone Short Term Pavement Markings
  • TCP(7-1) Traffic Control for Surfacing Operations
  • BC(7&8) Pavement Markings

666 - REFLECTORIZED PAVEMENT MARKINGS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The location and placement of reflectorized pavement markings must be shown on the plans.
2) The description specifying the type, color (white or yellow), shapes, sizes, widths and thickness of the reflectorized pavement markings must be shown on the plans.
3) Guides to mark the lateral location of pavement markings will be established as shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.
4) Where double stripes are placed, each stripe will be measured separately.
5) This is a plans quantity measurement Item.

680 - INSTALLATION OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SIGNALS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations and the details of the installation of the highway traffic signals must be shown on the plans.
2) The details of the controller assemblies must be shown on the plans.
3) The details of the flasher assemblies must be shown on the plans.
4) Materials not provided by the utility company for the electrical services will be supplied and installed by the Contractor as shown on the plans.
5) The types, sizes and lengths of conduits and fittings must be shown on the plans.
6) Sign lighting attached to traffic signal equipment will be as shown on the plans.
7) Luminaires on signal poles will be as shown on the plans.

681 - TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SIGNALS FOR CONSTRUCTION

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations and details for installing, operating, maintaining, reconfiguring and removing temporary traffic signals for controlling traffic during construction must be shown on the plans.
2) Any signal equipment furnished by the Department will be picked up by the contractor at locations shown on the plans.

682 - VEHICLE AND PEDESTRIAN SIGNAL HEADS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The types, sizes and details for installing vehicle and pedestrian signal heads must be shown on the plans.
2) The type, color and size of the lens for vehicle signal sections will be as shown on the plans.
3) The size of the lens for pedestrian signal sections will be as shown on the plans.
4) The door of each housing case will be one piece and will accommodate the lens size shown on the plans.
5) Mounting attachments will be as shown on the plans.
6) Signal heads will be assembled and mounted as shown on the plans.

686 - TRAFFIC SIGNAL POLE ASSEMBLIES (STEEL)

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The types and sizes of the traffic signal pole assemblies must be shown on the plans.
2) The location of the traffic signal poles must be shown on the plans.
3) Fabrication, welding and erection details must be shown on the plans.
4) The design wind speed for the traffic signal pole assemblies must be specified on the plans.
5) For optional pole designs, the pole assemblies will be compatible with the foundation details, signal heads and other attachments shown on the plans.
6) Foundations for the traffic signal pole assemblies will be constructed to the details shown on the plans and will be paid for under Item 656.
7) Shafts for poles and mast arms may be round or octagonal and will be tapered as shown on the plans.
8) Anchor bolts will be oriented as shown on the plans.
9) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheets are required for the design details and construction of traffic signal pole assemblies:

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

2) A pedestrian push button sign will be mounted near each push button as shown on the plans.
3) The locations, configurations, wire colors and number of turns for the vehicle detectors will be shown on the plans.
4) Sealant for the vehicle detector loops will be as shown on the plans.
5) Conduits will be placed between the pavement and ground box as shown on the plans.
