1) Entire area over which completed stabilized mixture to be spread shall be shown on the plans.
2) Quality of cement per cubic yard or ton of base shall be shown on the plans.
3) Type of flexible base material and required haul, as applicable, shall be shown on the plans and paid for under the applicable bid Item(s).
4) Excavation necessary to prepare the subgrade for stabilized base will be shown on the plans and paid for under the pertinent bid Item(s).

2028 - LIME-FLY ASH (LFA) OR FLY ASH (FA) TREATMENT FOR MATERIALS IN PLACE

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Material shall be placed to the lines, grades, thickness(es) and typical cross section(s) shown on the plans.
2) The percent lime and/or fly ash to be added to the material specified for treatment must be shown on the plans.
3) Contractor shall select, from the types shown on the plans, and prior to construction, the type of lime to be used.

3092 - CRUMB RUBBER MODIFIED (CRM) HOT MIX ASPHALTIC CONCRETE PAVEMENT

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits, areas and/or locations must be shown on the plans.
2) Specify if construction consists of a level-up course, a surface course, or any combination of these courses.
3) The width and depth of these courses must be shown on the typical section(s).
4) The type of CRM hot mix asphaltic concrete pavement, as shown in Table 2, must be shown on the plans.
5) The rate of application of CRM hot mix asphaltic concrete pavement must be shown on the plans.
6) The polish value of the coarse aggregate used in the surface course of the travel lanes must be shown on the plans.
7) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, air void control shall be required for all mixtures.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) The paving mixtures shall consist of a uniform mixture of aggregate, hot asphalt-rubber, and additives if allowed or required.

3118 ASPHALTIC CONCRETE SURFACE REHABILITATION (WITHOUT NEW ASPHALTIC CONCRETE MATERIAL)

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits, areas and/or locations must be shown on the plans.
2) The pavement surface shall be evenly heated, scarified and reworked to the widths and depths shown on the plans.
3) The depth of the hot mix asphaltic concrete overlay must be shown on the plans and shall be immediately applied on top of the compacted rehabilitated material.
4) If a testing laboratory is required, it shall meet the requirements shown on the plans.
5) If an asphalt recycling agent is required, the application rate shall be based on the laboratory tests on the pavement samples and shall be applied uniformly to the scarified material prior to mixing and leveling.
6) Measurement and payment of the hot mix asphaltic concrete shall be in accordance with Special Specification, "Quality Control/Quality Assurance of Hot Mix Asphalt".

1) When required, scarified material shall be blended with an asphalt recycling agent.

3146 - QUALITY CONTROL/QUALITY ASSURANCE OF HOT MIX ASPHALT

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits, areas and/or locations must be shown on the plans.
2) Specify if construction consists of a base course, a level-up course, a surface course, or a combination of these courses.
3) Width and depth of these courses must be shown on the typical section(s).
4) Type and rate of application of hot mix asphalt must be shown on the plans.
5) The asphalt material used for the paving mixture shall be of the grade shown on the plans.
6) The approximate asphalt material content and asphalt cement properties will be shown on the plans when the use of state-owned RAP sources are shown on the plans or designated for use in a Special Provision and made available for the Contractor to use.
7) Any unused state-owned RAP material will remain the property of the state and will be returned to the stockpile as directed by the Engineer.
8) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, ride quality will be required in accordance with Special Specification, "Ride Quality for Pavement Surfaces"

3157 - COLD PROCESSED-RECYCLED PAVING MATERIAL (RPM) FOR USE AS AGGREGATE BASE COURSE

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Courses shall be constructed in accordance with details as shown on the plans.
2) Prior to delivery of the Cold Processed - RPM, the subgrade of existing road bed shall be shaped to conform to the typical sections shown on the plans or established by the Engineer.

3175  - STONE MATRIX ASPHALTIC CONCRETE PAVEMENT
 

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Courses shall be shown on the plans.
2) Surface aggregate classification shall be as shown on the plans. Unless otherwise shown on the plans, surface aggregate classification requirement(s) shall apply only to the coarse aggregate on the surface course of the travel lanes.
3) Cellulose Fiber shall be of the type shown on the plans.
4) Required additives must be shown on the plans.
5) When use of a material feeding system is required, it shall meet the storage capacity, remixing capability and other requirements shall be shown on the plans.
6) In-Place compaction control and air void control required, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
7) Required roadway specimens obtained by Contractor at Contractor’s expense, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
8) Ride Quality in accordance with Special Specification, "Ride Quality for Pavement Surfaces", is required, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
9) A test strip off the Right of Way will be required for each proposed mix design, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
10) One test strip for each proposed mix design will not be measured for payment, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
11) Fine aggregate shall be supplied from sources whose coarse aggregate meets the magnesium sulfate soundness loss requirements of this specification, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
12) The mineral filler shall meet the gradation requirements as shown in this specification, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
13) Aggregate sampling during delivery to plant or from stockpile, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
14) Asphalt cement shall be PG 70-22, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
15) Contractor may use lime to reduce moisture susceptibility of aggregate, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
16) Cellulose fiber shall be used at a rate of 0.3% by weight, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
17) The blend of aggregates shall conform to the limits of the master grading shown in Table 2, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
18) The mixture of aggregate, asphalt, cellulose fiber and additives shall be evaluated in the design stage for moisture susceptibility, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
19) Mixing Plant equipment changeable specifications: See Subarticle 4. (2) Mixing Plants, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
20) Equipment to transfer material from the hauling units or the roadbed to the spreading and finishing machine is allowed, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
21) Fine aggregate stockpiles may contain up to 20% by weight coarse aggregate, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
22) Overnight storage of mix will not be permitted, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
23) Mixture may contain a maximum of 1% moisture by weight, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
24) Dispatching of delivery vehicles to allow placement and completion of compaction during daylight hours, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
25) Windrow dumping and pick-up for placement of material into finishing machine with windrow pick-up equipment will be allowed, unless otherwise shown on the plans.

2) Additional test requirements affecting the quality of individual materials or the paving mixture will be required, when shown on the plans.

4) Measuring device for adding mineral filler shall be tied into the automatic plant controls so that the supply of mineral filler will be automatically adjusted to plant production and provide a consistent percentage to the mixture, when shown on the plans.
5) Optional controls in plant control room allowing manual control of mineral filler feed rates, may be required, when shown on the plans.
6) Additional/alternate placement surface temperatures, may be required, when shown on the plans.

3364 - THIN BONDED PERMEABLE FRICTION COURSE (TBPFC)

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The areas/locations for Thin Bonded Permeable Friction Course (TBPFC) will be as shown on the plans.
2)  Minimum surface aggregate classification (SAC) for coarse aggregate will be shown on the plans.
3)  Ride Quality in accordance with Special Specification, "Ride Quality for Pavement Surfaces."

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, aggregates shall conform to the requirements shown in Table 1 and specification.
2)  Unless otherwise shown on the plans, Class B aggregate may be blended with a Class A aggregate in order to meet requirements for Class A materials.
3)  Unless the plans specify asphalt-rubber (A-R) binder, performance grade (PG) asphalt binder and fibers will be used.
4)  When shown on the plans, use the type and rate of additive specified.
5)  When required add lime as an antistripping agent.
6)  Unless otherwise noted on the plans, membrane material will be measured by the volume or weight.

3406 - PERMEABLE FRICTION COURSE

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1)      Specify either a Performance Grade (PG) 76 binder or an Asphalt-Rubber (A-R) binder on the set of plans.
2)      If different aggregate quality requirements (listed in Table 1) are desired, specify on the set of plans.
3)      Specify the surface aggregate classification on the set of plans.
4)      When requiring A-R binder, show on the set of plans if additional requirements other than Item 300.2.I are desired.
5)      Show on the set of plans if additional requirements other than Item 300.2.G are desired for Grade B or C of Crumb Rubber Modifier (CRM).
6)      Show on the set of plans if a specific type and grade of tack coat material is desired.
7)      Specify the type and rate of additives on the set of plans, if needed.
