4000 - REPAIR FILLET WELDS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Locations of the existing structures to be repaired must be shown on the plans.
2) The size and length of each weld repaired shall be the same as the one being replaced, unless otherwise directed by the Engineer.

4002 - RELOCATING IRRIGATION APPURTENANCES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Locations and details for relocating irrigation appurtenances must be shown on the plans.
2) Structural excavation for installing the proposed relocated irrigation appurtenances will not be measured but shall be considered subsidiary to the various bid items, unless otherwise shown on the plans.

4003 - CONCRETE LOW-HEAD PRESSURE PIPE

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations and grades for the concrete low-head pressure pipes will be shown on the plans.
2) The size of the pipe diameters, lengths and classes of the concrete low-head pressure pipes will be shown on the plans.
3) Structural excavation for pipe headwalls will not be measured but shall be considered subsidiary to the various bid items, unless otherwise shown on the plans.

4007 - ADJUST STEEL SHOES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for adjusting steel shoes must be shown on the plans or as required by the Engineer.
2) Details for adjusting steel shoes on a structure must be shown on the plans.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When required, shoes will be replaced in accordance with Item 442.

4012 - WATERPROOFING JOINTS IN CONCRETE PAVEMENT OR BRIDGE DECKS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Locations of the joints for waterproofing either for concrete pavements or for bridge decks must be shown on the plans.

4023 - ELASTOMERIC SEALED EXPANSION JOINTS FOR BRIDGES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations, sizes and installation details of the elastomeric sealed expansion joints will be shown on the plans.
2) The lengths of the steel rails will be shown on the plans.
3) The width or rated movement of the seals will be shown on the plans.
4) The blockout area adjacent to the expansion joint will be formed to the dimensions shown on the plans.
5) The steel rails will be set in position at the proper line and grade with the distance between the rails set with respect to the temperature as shown on the plans.

4253 - ASPHALTIC PLUG EXPANSION JOINT SYSTEM

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Locations of the expansion joints to be replaced with the asphaltic plug expansion joint systems must be shown on the plans.
2) A cross section showing the details of the asphaltic plug expansion joint system must be shown on the plans.
3) A Spec Data Note needs to be added, showing the three approved suppliers for asphaltic plug.
4) A representative of the joint manufacturer shall be on site during the installation of each of the joint components unless otherwise shown on the plans.

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations, types, sizes and installation details of the C-span culvert structures will be shown on the plans.
2) The design details and reinforcement details of the C-span culvert structures will be shown on the plans.
3) The elevation of the cast-in-place concrete footings will be shown on the plans.
4) The cast-in-place concrete footings will be constructed in accordance with the details and to the grades shown on the plans.

4315 - IRRIGATION WELLS, GATES AND VALVES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) If brick is used to construct the irrigation wells, the inlet shall be square and constructed to the inside dimensions specified on the plans.
2) If reinforced concrete pipe is used to construct the irrigation wells, the inside diameter of the pipe shall be specified on the plans.
3) The size of the irrigation well will be determined by the inside dimensions of the brick inlet or the inside diameter of the reinforced concrete pipe.
4) The locations of the irrigation well will be shown on plans.
5) Concrete foundations will be constructed at the locations shown on plans.
6) Gates and valves will be installed at locations shown on plans.

4421 - REPAIR OF IMPACT DAMAGED PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BRIDGE BEAMS
          
(Routine Maintenance Contracts Only)

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) All concrete repair material, or proprietary material submitted for approval, shall have a minimum 28 - day Compressive Strength of 5000 psi or as shown on the plans.
2) The beams to be repaired may require one or more of the basic repair methods listed below and will be so categorized elsewhere on the plans as follows:

  • Category I:    Significant spalling, section loss and cracking
  • Category II:   Surface spalling only
  • Category III:  Crack injection only

3) The cracks to be injected will be as designated by the Engineer and an approximate length of
    repair may be shown on the plans for informational purposes only.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) The Contractor shall repair any damaged diaphragms, only if shown on the plans.  This work will not be paid for directly, but shall be considered subsidiary to this Item.
2) The Contractor shall replace any damaged Bridge Protective Assembly, only if shown on the plans.  This work will not be paid for directly, but shall be considered subsidiary to this Item.

4858 - CONCRETE BLOCK RETAINING WALLS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) For Concrete Block Retaining Walls the lines, grades and dimensions must be shown on the plans.
2) When optional or alternate design details are shown on the plans, the Contractor will have the option of constructing any of the types of retaining walls shown .
3) This is a plans quantity measurement item.
4) When not shown on the plans and in the proposal as a bid item, this Item will be subsidiary to Item 423, "Retaining Wall."

4918 - INTERLOCKING ARTICULATING CONCRETE BLOCKS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Filter fabric and Interlocking Articulating Concrete Blocks (IACB) are constructed to dimensions and lines and grades shown on the plans.
2) IACB shall meet or exceed the type as state on the plans. Minimum critical shear stress is 4 lb./ sq. ft. or as shown on the plans.  Percentage of open area is as shown on the plans.
3) Sub-grade elevation is shown on the plans.
4) Type 2 filter fabric by DMS-6200, "Filter Fabric" shall be used unless type and properties are specified on the plans.
4) If shown on the plans, backfill the voids of the IACB with seeded and fertilized topsoil.
5) Excavation and preparation for the IACB anchor trenches, toe trenches and aprons, top trenches, upstream termination trenches, and downstream termination trenches shall be as shown on the plans.
