5014 - GABIONS AND GABION MATTRESSES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The size and type of basket-wire coating for the gabions and/or gabion mattresses must be shown on the plans.
2) The location and placement of gabions and/or gabion mattresses can be shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.
3) The foundation preparation for the gabions and/or gabion mattresses shall be excavated to the extent shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.
4) The placement of filter material and/or filter fabric can be shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When required, Filter Fabric shall be placed as shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.

5020 - MODULAR RETAINING WALLS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The details for the installation of the modular retaining walls will be as shown on the plans and as specified by the Engineer.
2) The materials and all construction methods utilized shall be as shown on the plans.

5024 - ASPHALTIC CONCRETE CURB

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits and/or locations of the asphaltic concrete curb must be shown on the plans.
2) Details of the asphaltic concrete curb must be shown on the plans.
3) The type of dense-graded asphaltic concrete mix shall be shown on the plans.
4) Prime coat or tack coat shall be required as indicated on the plans.

5046 - LOOSE AGGREGATE FOR GROUND COVER

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Areas and/or locations to receive the placement of loose aggregate must be shown on the plans.
2) The type of aggregate material used can be specified on the plans or as approved by the Engineer.
3) The areas and/or locations to be treated with the loose aggregate shall be prepared as indicated on the plans and approved by the engineer prior to the application of this aggregate material.
4) Specify the type of ground cover to be used on the plans.

5166 - BRAKEMASTER SYSTEM

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) All materials shall be new and conform to the details shown on the plans. Location(s) for the Brakemaster System must be shown on the plans.
2) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheets are required for the installation details for the Brakemaster System: BRST(1)-94 Brakemaster System Terminal Details BRST(2)-94 Brakemaster System Terminal Details
3) The Brakemaster system shall be fabricated and installed in accordance with the details shown on the plans. Further information regarding assembly and installation may be obtained from the manufacturer.

5205 - ASPHALT SAMPLING

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) All measuring and blending equipment, sampling port and their locations must be approved by the Engineer.
2) The Engineer may elect to witness the collection of any or all samples.

5249 - TEMPORARY SEDIMENT CONTROL FENCE

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Location of the temporary sediment control fence can be shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.
2) Must include the following Statewide Details Sheet for the details and installation of temporary sediment control fence: EC(1)-93 Temporary Erosion, Sediment and Water Pollution Control Measure (Fence & Baled Hay)
3) The removal of accumulated sediment deposits will be measured and paid for under the pertinent bid items of Special Specification, "Earthwork for Erosion Control".

5267 - REMOVING SINGLE GUARDRAIL TERMINALS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for the installation of vehicle impact attenuator assemblies can be shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.
2) The following sheet can be used for the design guidelines and typical module arrays for the installation of vehicular impact attenuator assemblies for sand filled plastic modules: (This sheet must be sealed, signed and dated by the responsible Engineer)

5404 - MILLED SHOULDER TEXTURING

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits and/or locations to receive the textured shoulders on the finished surface of asphaltic concrete pavement or Portland cement concrete by use of a milling machine must be shown on the plans.
2) The rumble strips shall be placed at a distance from the edge of the travel lanes as shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer. A minimum of 6 feet shall be left on the outside of the outside shoulder.
3) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheet is required for the design details for milled shoulder texturing:

  • ST(1)-99 Depressed Shoulder Texturing

5405 - ROLLED-IN SHOULDER TEXTURING

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits and/or locations to receive the textured shoulders on the surface of the asphaltic concrete pavement by use of a roller must be shown on the plans.
2) The distance the rolled-in shoulder texturing should be placed from the outside edge of the edgeline shall be between 4 and 6 inches. This distance will be as specified on the plans or as directed by the Engineer. A minimum of 5 1/2 feet shall be left untextured on the outside of the outside shoulder.
3) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheet is required for the design details for rolled-in shoulder texturing:

  • ST(1)-99 Depressed Shoulder Texturing
