ITEM NO. - TITLE AND REQUIREMENTS

5406 - TEXTURED SHOULDERS USING TRAFFIC BUTTONS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits and/or locations to receive the placement of traffic buttons for texturing the finished surface of the shoulder must be shown on the plans.
2) The distance the traffic buttons should be placed from the outside edge of the edgeline shall be between 4 and 8 inches. This distance will be as specified on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.
3) The non-reflectorized traffic buttons will be of the class and/or type as specified on the plans.
4) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheet is required for the design details for textured shoulders using traffic buttons:

  • ST(2)-99                Shoulder Texturing Using Pavement Markings

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When removal of buttons is required, it shall be in accordance with Item 677.

5453 - QUADGUARD SYSTEM

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The length of the quad-corrugated beam weldment shall match the nominal width of the crash cushion (24", 30", or 36") as shown on the plans.
2) The width, type and the number of bays must be shown on the plans for the QuadGuard System.
3) Locations for the placement of the QuadGuard Systems must be shown on the plans.
4) Must include the following Statewide Standard Details Sheet for the fabrication and installation of the QuadGuard System:

  • QUAD(N)-99                QuadGuard System (Narrow)
  • QUAD(W)-99                QuadGuard System (Wide)

5) When moving and resetting temporary QuadGuard Systems, the new location of the QuadGuard System must be shown on the plans when either moving it from a stockpile and resetting it at a location on the highway or moving it from an existing location on the highway and resetting it at a new location on the highway.
6) When the QuadGuard System is no longer required on the project, it will be removed from the existing location on the highway and stockpiled at a designated location shown on plans or as directed by the Engineer.

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for the installation of crash-cushion attenuating terminals must be shown on the plans.
2) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheets must be included in the plans for the details and installation of the crash-cushion attenuating terminal:

  • CATGR(1)-97 and CATGR(2)-97           Crash Cushion Attenuating Terminal Details (Guardrail) (2 sheets)
  • CATCB(1)-97 and CATCB(2)-97           Crash Cushion Attenuating Terminal Details (Concrete Barrier)(2 sheets)

    of the object marker which shall be installed on the front of the terminal:

5519 TRANSPORTABLE CELLULAR TELEPHONES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The number of transportable cellular telephones (TCT’s) needed on a project will be as shown on the plans.
2) The type of TCT’s will be as shown on the plans or as approved by the Engineer.
3) To include this Item in a project, it must be added to the Specification List as a Reference Item to either Item 504, if a field office and/or laboratory is required on the project, or to Item 500.

PAYMENT AND MEASUREMENT
This Item will be paid for at the invoice amount plus five (5) percent.

5647 - QUADGUARD ELITE SYSTEM

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Installation locations shall be shown on the plans.
2) All materials to be furnished by the Contractor shall be in accordance with details shown on the plans.
3) QuadGuard Elite System crash cushions shall be fabricated and installed in accordance with the manufacturer's shop drawings and details shown on the plans.
4) Details for the QuadGuard Elite System crash cushions and any necessary concrete support pads, including steel reinforcement and placement as required by the manufacturer.
5) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, any QuadGuard Elite System removed shall remain the property of the State.
6) Stockpile or storage location(s) shall be shown on the plans.

5880 - RIDE QUALITY FOR PAVEMENT SURFACES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The finished Surface of the Pavement shall be smooth and true to the established line, grade and cross section shown on the plans.
2) Surface Test Type B shall apply longitudinally along the finished riding surface of all travel lanes unless Surface Test A is shown on the plans. When shown on the plans, Surface Test Type B shall apply longitudinally along the finished riding surface of all travel lanes except service roads or other excluded areas. Surface Test Type B may be required on service roads and other areas excluded by the specification if called for on the plans.
