SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for Pothole Repair will be as directed by the Engineer.
2) The Department will furnish all materials unless otherwise specified. Materials, when furnished 
     by the Department, will be at the sites designated on the plans.
3) Materials not used which were furnished by the Department, will be returned to the location from 
    which the materials were obtained upon completion of the work.

7002 - LITTER PICKUP AND DISPOSAL

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for Litter Pickup and Disposal will be as directed by the Engineer.
2) Bagged litter shall be picked up the same day of collection unless otherwise approved by the Engineer.
3) All whole tires shall be picked up and taken to the site(s) designated in the General Notes and 
    Specification Data Sheets.

7004 - PICNIC AREAS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The janitorial and grounds maintenance of Picnic Areas will be as shown on the plans.
2) Picnic area(s) shall be cleaned of all litter within the limits shown on the plans.
3) Picnic Areas shall be mowed as designated on the plans.
4) Methods and/or directions for the removal and disposal of grass clippings, tree clippings, leaves 
    and/or pine straw shall be as shown in the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).

7005 - REST AREAS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The number and location of rest areas, the number of attendants, their duty hours and other scheduled 
     items of work shall be as designated in the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s). Work 
     performed under this Item shall be done seven (7) days a week, including holidays.
2) Attendants shall not perform grounds maintenance while responsible for janitorial maintenance unless 
     otherwise designated in the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).
3) Methods and/or directions for the removal and disposal of grass clippings, tree clippings, leaves and/or 
     pine straw shall be as shown in the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).

7006 - TREES, UNDERBRUSH AND SHRUBS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for the removal and disposal of trees, underbrush, shrubs and vines, the pruning and 
    trimming of trees and shrubs shall be as designated in the General Notes and Specification
    Data Sheet(s).
2) Those trees, shrubs and other landscape features designated by the Engineer for preservation, shall be 
    carefully protected from abuse, marring or damage.
3) Any diseased and/or infected trees shall be disposed of as designated in the General Notes and 
    Specification Data Sheet(s) or as directed by the Engineer.
4) All dead tree limbs shall be removed. Tree limbs extending over the pavement shall be trimmed to the
     height shown on the plans.

7008 - METAL BEAM GUARD FENCE REPAIR

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for Metal Beam Guard Fence Repair will be as directed by the Engineer.
2) All metal beam guard fence removed for replacement or upgrading purposes shall be replaced
    during the same workday unless otherwise approved by the Engineer.
3) Materials furnished by the Department will be relocated at sites designated in the General Notes
    and Specification Data Sheet(s).

7135 - JANITORIAL AND/OR GROUNDS MAINTENANCE

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

1) The locations for Janitorial and/or Grounds Maintenance shall be as described in the General
    Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).
2) Unless otherwise specified, vehicles shall be equipped with highly visible Omni-directional flashing
    amber lights.
3) Methods and/or directions for the removal and disposal of grass clippings, tree clippings, leaves
    and/or pine straw shall be as shown in the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).
4) Schedules for janitorial and/or grounds maintenance are designated in the General Notes and

7153 - SNOW AND ICE CONTROL

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for Snow and Ice Control will be as directed by the Engineer.
2) Trucks and spreaders must be fully equipped and ready for use during the time specified on the General 
     Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).
3) The Department will not furnish transportation for any of the Contractor’s equipment or operators.
4) The Contractor shall furnish the number of truck-trains as specified in the General Notes and
     Specification Data Sheet(s).
5) The trucks shall not be less than the size as specified in the General Notes and Specification Data
    Sheet(s) and shall be equipped with a working telephone.
6) Trail vehicles will be equipped with signs as shown on the General Notes and Specification Data
    Sheet(s).
7) Spreader size shall be as specified in the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).
8) Sanding materials shall be provided and loaded onto the Contractor’s trucks by the Department at
    stockpile areas designated by the Engineer.
9) Time charges will start when the operator, with the truck and spreader, reports to the designated
     location and will end when work is complete and the Contractor has returned to the designated
     location. The designated location shall be as shown on the General Notes and Specification
     Data Sheet(s).

7157 - REPAIR AND/OR MODIFY SIGNAL EQUIPMENT

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

1) The locations of the Traffic Signals shall be as designated in the General Notes and Specification Data 
    Sheet(s).
2) Unless otherwise noted on the plans all materials that become part of the final installation are to be
     furnished to the Contractor at no charge. Materials shall be picked up at the time(s) and location(s)
    set out in the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).
3) Installation of the proposed signal projects will be as described in the General Notes and Specification 
    Data Sheet(s).
4) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, all conductors shall be in conduit, except when in metal poles.
     The conduits shall be placed as shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer. Unless
     otherwise shown on the plans, conduit placed in an open trench shall be placed at least 18 
     inches deep.
5) PVC junction boxes shall be installed at locations shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.

7158 - BLADE LEVEL-UP

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for Blade Level-up will be in accordance with the details in the General Notes
    and Specification Data Sheet(s).
2) All materials shall be furnished by the Department, unless otherwise shown on the plans.Tack
    coat material shall be the type as shown in the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).
3) The asphaltic level-up material shall be the type as specified in the General Notes and Specification
    Data Sheet(s) and will be furnished by the Department unless otherwise shown on the plans. The
    material will be available at the locations shown on the plans. Abbreviated centerline tape will be
    furnished by the Department.

7159 - REPAIR FENDER SYSTEMS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for Repair Fender Systems will be as directed by the Engineer.
2) The length of Piling shall be as shown on the plans.
3) Galvanized batter plates are to be furnished by the Contractor, when required. Dimensions shall be as 
    shown on the plans.
4) Polyethylene pipe (PE) shall be placed on designated piling when shown on the plans.
5) All steel plates shall be removed from the faces of existing damaged clusters for use in the
    new installation.
6) The Contractor shall drive 1, 3, 5, 7, 12, 17, 19, 21, 31, 62 (44-50’ long, 6-60’ long and 12-70’ long) 
    or 65 (50’ long) new piles in a cluster so as to create the core of a dolphin as directed by the Engineer or
    as shown on the plans.
7) Each 1-pile, 3-pile, and 5-pile dolphin shall be wrapped with 5/8 inch diameter wire rope cable a 
    minimum of six (6) wraps as directed by the Engineer or as shown on the plans. Each 7-pile, 12-pile,
    21-pile, dolphin shall be wrapped with 5/8 in diameter wire rope cable a minimum of 10 wraps as 
    directed by the Engineer or as shown on the plans.
8) Each 7-pile, 12-pile 19-pile, 21-pile dolphin shall be wrapped with 5/8 in diameter wire rope cable 
    a minimum of 10 wraps as directed by the Engineer or as shown on the plans.
9) Treated timbers, 10 inch X 12 inch, shall be affixed to the dolphins as directed by the Engineer or as
    shown on the plans.

    Engineer.
2) All barricades, signs, cones, arrowboards and other types of devices, necessary for the installation
    and maintenance of the lane closures, shall conform to details shown on the plans or those indicated
    in the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD).

7172 - SPOT REPAIR OF FLEXIBLE BASE AND/OR SUBGRADE
          (Routine Maintenance Contracts Only)

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations, will be shown on the plans.
2) The minimum length and width for any segment of work to be performed under this Item
    shall be as specified in the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).  This work shall
    involve the repairing of subgrade, base, and replacing surface with asphaltic prime, seal or 
    asphaltic material as shown in the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).
3)  The Contractor shall furnish all materials unless otherwise specified.
4) Materials, when furnished by the department, will be located at sites designated in the
    General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).  
5) All materials such as basr, prime, aggregate, asphalt for seal or tack, hot mix, hot mix cold-laid
    asphaltic concrete or limestone rock asphalt, shall come from an approved source and be the 
   type as shown in the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s).
6) The finished base shall recieve an application of prime asphalt, the type and rate as set forth in 
    the General Notes and Specification Data Sheet(s). and allowed to cure sufficiently 
    (minimum 24 hours) prior to applying surface treatment as set forth in the General Notes and 
    Specification Data Sheet(s).
7) The rate of application of asphalt and aggregate will be as set forth in the General Notes and
    Specification Data Sheet(s).

1) When directed by the Engineer, the surface applied shall be Cold Mix Asphaltic Concrete or

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    the Contractor (Owner) or the Superintendent shall hold a Master Electrician's
    License from a city with a population of 50,000 or greater.
