SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The location and/or area for installing a ground cover fabric as a vegetation barrier can be
    shown on the plans or as designated by the Engineer.
2) The details for the installation of the vegetation barrier can be shown on the plans and as noted
    within the General Notes and specifications, or as specified by the Engineer.

1001 - PLANTING BED PREPARATION

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The location and/or areas for the preparation of planting beds can be shown on the plans
    or as specified by the Engineer.
2) The details for the preparation of planting beds can be shown on the plans and as noted
    within the General Notes and Specifications, or as specified by the Engineer.

1009 - FURNISHING AND PLACING COMPOST

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The areas for furnishing and placing compost can be shown on the plans or
    as directed by the Engineer.
2) The lines, grades and cross sections must be shown on the plans for the preparation
    of the soil before the compost is added.
3) The type of compost to be furnished and the depth/thickness of the compost must be
    specified on the plans.
4) The depth and percentage of compost in the Compost Manufactured Topsoil must be
    shown on the plans.
5) Rolling and sprinkling will not be paid for directly but shall be considered subsidiary to
    this Item, unless otherwise shown on the plans.

2023 - LIME-FLY ASH (LFA) OR FLY ASH (FA) TREATMENT FOR MATERIALS IN PLACE

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for Fly Ash or Lime-Fly Ash shall be in conformity with the typical sections, lines and 
    grades as shown on the plans or as established by the Engineer.
2) All lime shall be applied in slurry form under "slurry Placing" unless "Dry Placing" is allowed for
    Type A Hydrated Lime or Type C Quicklime by means of a specific note on the plans or by the
    approval of the Engineer, when subgrade conditions warrant dry placement.
3) The percent of lime to be added shall be as shown on the plans.
4) The lime or fly ash shall be spread by an approved spreader or by bag distribution at the rates shown 
    on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.
5) Compaction shall begin at the bottom and shall continue until the entire depth of mixture is uniformly 
    compacted by the method of compaction hereinafter specified as the "Ordinary Compaction" method or 
    the "Density Control" method as indicated on the plans.
6) Lime-fly ash or fly ash treatment of the subgrade existing subbase and existing base will be measured 
    by the square meter to neat lines and grades as shown on the typical sections.

3017 - SAWED JOINTS

3020 - CRUMB RUBBER MODIFIED (CRM) HOT MIX ASPHALTIC CONCRETE PAVEMENT

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits, areas and/or locations must be shown on the plans.
2) Specify if construction consists of a level-up course, a surface course, or any
    combination of these courses.
3) The width and depth of these courses must be shown on the typical section(s).
4) The type of CRM hot mix asphaltic concrete pavement, as shown in Table 2, must
     be shown on the plans.
5) The rate of application of CRM hot mix asphaltic concrete pavement must be shown
    on the plans.
6) The polish value of the coarse aggregate used in the surface course of the travel lanes
     must be shown on the plans.
7) Crushed gravel screenings may be used with, or in place of, stone screenings when
    shown on the plans.

3038 - ASPHALTIC CONCRETE SURFACE REHABILITATION (WITHOUT NEW ASPHALTIC CONCRETE MATERIAL)

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits, areas and/or locations must be shown on the plans.
2) The pavement surface shall be evenly heated, scarified and reworked to the
    widths and depths as shown on the plans.
3) The depth of the hot mix asphaltic concrete overlay must be shown on the plans
    and shall be immediately applied on top of the compacted rehabilitated material.
4) If a testing laboratory is required, it shall meet the requirements shown on the plans.
5) If an asphalt recycling agent is required, the application rate shall be based on the
    laboratory tests on the pavement samples and shall be applied uniformly to the scarified
    material prior to mixing and leveling.
6) Measurement and payment of the hot mix asphaltic concrete shall be in accordance with
    Special Specification, "Quality Control/Quality Assurance of Hot Mix Asphalt".

3083 - COLD POUR CRACK SEALING

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Locations for cold pour crack sealing shall be performed on the highways specified in the General
    Notes and Specification Data sheets.
2) The cracks will be cleaned to the depth specified in the General Notes and Specification Data sheets.
3) The average daily workload shall be specified in the General Notes and Specification Data sheets.

3117 - QUALITY CONTROL/QUALITY ASSURANCE OF HOT MIX ASPHALT

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for Quality Control/Quality Assurance of Hot Mix Asphalt shall be to
    the dimensions as shown on the plans.
2) When specified on the plans, certain coarse aggregate material may be allowed,
     required or prohibited.
3) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, the polish value requirement will apply only to
    aggregate used on travel lanes.
4) Blending of course aggregates to meet the polish value requirements will be allowed
    unless otherwise shown on the plans.
5) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, stockpiled, crushed RAP shall have either a
    decantation of five (5) percent or less or a plasticity index of eight (8) or less, when
    tested in accordance with Test Method TEX-406-A, Part I, or Test Method
    TEX-106-E, respectively. When shown on the plans or when designated in a Special
    Provision, State-owned RAP sources are available to the Contractor. The approximate 
    asphalt material content and asphalt cement properties will be shown on the plans.
6) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, gravel fine aggregates, except for field sand,
    shall not be allowed.
7) When the antistripping additive type and rate are shown on the plans, then all moisture
    susceptibility testing requirements for mixture design will be waived, unless otherwise
    shown on the plans.
8) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, ride quality will be required in accordance with
    Special Specification, "Ride Quality for Pavement Surfaces".

1) When Anti-Stripping Agents are used, they will be in accordance with Item 301.

3136 - HEAVY DUTY STONE MATRIX ASPHALTIC CONCRETE PAVEMENT (HDSMACP)

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for Heavy Duty Concrete Pavement shall be in accordance with the
   details shown on the plans.
2) Additional test requirements affecting the quality of individual materials or the paving
    mixture shall be required when indicated on the plans.
3) Shoulders and ramps are not subject to in-place air voids determination unless otherwise
    shown on the plans.
4) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, ride quality will be required in accordance with
    Special Specification, "Ride Quality for Pavement Surfaces".

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When Anti-Stripping Agents are used, they will be in accordance with Item 301.

3137 - STONE FILLED HOT MIX ASPHALTIC CONCRETE PAVEMENT (SFHMACP)

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for Hot Mix Asphaltic Pavement shall be in accordance with the details
    shown on the plans.
2) Additional test requirements affecting the quality of individual materials or the paving
    mixture shall be required when indicated on the plans. When specified on the plans, certain
    course aggregate material may be allowed, required or prohibited. When specified on the
    plans, certain fine aggregate may be allowed, required or prohibited. Gravel 
    screenings shall not be allowed when shown on the plans.
3) Shoulders and ramps are not subject to in-place air voids determination unless otherwise
    shown on the plans.
4) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, ride quality will be required in accordance with
    Special Specification, "Ride Quality for Pavement Surfaces".

3138 - SUPERPAVE HOT MIX ASPHALT CONCRETE PAVEMENT (SPHMACP)

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The locations for Superpave Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete Pavement shall be in accordance
    with the details shown on the plans.
2) When specified on the plans, certain course aggregate material may be allowed, required
    or prohibited.
3) When shown on the plans or when designated in a Special Provision, State owned RAP 
    sources are available to the Contractor. The approximate asphalt material content and
    asphalt cement properties will be shown on the plans. If the source is an existing stockpile
    material, the decantation or plasticity index will also be shown on the plans.
4) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, the Contractor may select either lime or a liquid
    antistripping agent to meet the Hamburg Wheel Test requirement.
5) Temporary storing or holding of the hot mix asphalt by the surge storage system will be
     required for drum mix plants during the normal day’s operation. Overnight storage will
     not be permitted unless authorized on the plans or in writing by the Engineer.
6) Unless otherwise shown on the plans, ride quality will be required in accordance with
    Special Specification, "Ride Quality for Pavement Surfaces".
