SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS  
1) The locations for the installation of vehicle impact attenuator assemblies can be shown
    on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.
2) The following sheet can be used for the design guidelines and typical module arrays for
    the installation of vehicular impact attenuator assemblies for sand filled plastic modules:
    (This sheet must be sealed, signed and dated by the responsible Engineer)

5032 - GABIONS AND GABION MATTRESS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The size and type of basket-wire coating for the gabions and/or gabion mattresses must
    be shown on the plans.
2) The location and placement of gabions and/or gabion mattresses can be shown on the plans
    or as directed by the Engineer.
3) The foundation preparation for the gabions and/or gabion mattresses shall be excavated to
    the extent shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.
4) The placement of filter material and/or filter fabric can be shown on the plans or as directed
    by the Engineer.

5046 - MILLED SHOULDER TEXTURING

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits and/or locations to receive the textured shoulders on the finished surface of
    asphaltic concrete pavement or Portland cement concrete by use of a milling machine
    must be shown on the plans.
2) The distance the rumble strips should be placed from the edge of the travel lane will
    be between 100 and 200 millimeters.  This distance will be as specified on the plans
    or as directed by the Engineer.
3) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheet is required for the design details for
    milled shoulder texturing:

  • ST(1)-99(M)      Depressed Shoulder Texturing

5048 - TEXTURED SHOULDERS USING TRAFFIC BUTTONS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits and/or locations to receive the placement of traffic buttons for texturing the finished
    surface of the shoulder must be shown on the plans.
2) The distance the traffic buttons should be placed from the outside edge of the travel lane
    will be between 100 and 200 millimeters.  This distance will be as specified on the plans or
    as directed by the Engineer.
3) The non-reflectorized traffic buttons will be of the class and/or type as specified on the plans.
4) The following Statewide Standard Details Sheet is required for the design details for textured
    shoulders using traffic buttons:

    on the plans.
2) The type of aggregate material used can be specified on the plans or as approved by
    the Engineer.
3) The areas and/or locations to be treated with the loose aggregate shall be prepared
    as indicated on the plans and approved by the Engineer prior to the application of
    this aggregate material.
4) Specify the Type of ground cover to be used on the plans.

5098 - QUADGUARD SYSTEM

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The length of the quad-corrugated beam weldment shall match the nominal width
    of the crash cushion (either 610 mm, 760 mm or 915 mm) as shown on the plans.
2) The width, type and the number of bays must be shown on the plans for the
    QuadGuard System.
3) Locations for the placement of the QuadGuard Systems must be shown on the plans.
4) Must include the following Statewide Standard Details Sheet for the fabrication
    and installation of the QuadGuard System:

  • QUAD(N)-99(M) QuadGuard System (Narrow)
  • QUAD(W)-99(M) QuadGuard System (Wide)

5) When moving and resetting temporary QuadGuard Systems, the new location of the
    QuadGuard System must be shown on the plans when either moving it from a stockpile
    and resetting it at a location on the highway or moving it from an existing location on
    the highway and resetting it at a new location on the highway.
6) When the QuadGuard System is no longer required on the project, it will be removed
    from the existing location on the highway and stockpiled at a designated location shown
    on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.

5440 - RIDE QUALITY FOR PAVEMENT SURFACES

1) The finished Surface of the Pavement shall be smooth and true to the established line,
    grade and cross section shown on the plans.
2) Surface Test Type B shall apply longitudinally along the finished riding surface of all 
    travel lanes unless Surface Test A is shown on the plans. When shown on the plans,
    Surface Test Type B shall apply longitudinally along the finished riding surface of all 
    travel lanes except service roads or other excluded areas. Surface Test Type B may
    be required on service roads and other areas excluded by the specification if called
    for on the plans.
