427 - SURFACE FINISHES FOR CONCRETE

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Grade and/or class of finish will be specified on the plans, for finish other than ordinary
    surface finish.
2) This is a plans quantity measurement Item.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When class E finish is permitted, it shall be in accordance with Item 446.
2) When class C finish is permitted, it shall be in accordance with Item 526.
3) When epoxy waterproofing is required, it shall be in accordance with Special Specification 5381.

428 - CONCRETE SURFACE TREATMENT

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Any surface receiving a surface finish under Item 427 will not get a surface treatment
    under Item 428.
2) This is a plans quantity measurement Item.

429 - CONCRETE STRUCTURE REPAIR

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Size and location of drive pins, studs, or expansion bolts and method of attaching new
    reinforcing steel will be detailed on the plans.

430 - EXTENDING CONCRETE STRUCTURES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Details will be shown on the plans.
2) Portions of the old structures to be removed will be to the lines and dimensions shown on the plans.
3) This is a plans quantity measurement Item.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When welding is shown on the plans, it shall be in accordance with Item 448.

431 - PNEUMATICALLY PLACED CONCRETE

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Type of concrete shall be shown on the plans.

432 - RIPRAP

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Show type, details and thickness of riprap on the plans.
2) If concrete riprap is other than Class B, it needs to be shown on the plans.
3) Concrete riprap will be reinforced using wire or bar reinforcement unless otherwise
    shown on the plans.
4) Show type and grade of aggregate conforming to Item 247 for cement stabilized riprap
    on the plans.
5) If filter fabric is required, it needs to be shown on the plans.
6) Special riprap will be as shown on the plans.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When cement stabilized riprap is required, it shall be in accordance with Item 247.
2) When class II riprap is required, it shall be in accordance with Item 431.

433 - JOINT SEALANTS AND FILLERS

1) Class of joint sealants shall be shown on the plans.

435 - ELASTOMERIC MATERIALS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Elastomeric bearings will be specified on the plans by hardness, size and configuration.
2) Specify on the plans, if elastomeric bearings may be either "Plain" or "Laminated".
3) Details for waterstops will be shown on the plans.
4) Nylon reinforced neoprene sheet thickness will be shown on the plans.

438 - CLEANING AND/OR SEALING JOINTS AND CRACKS (PORTLAND CEMENT  CONCRETE)

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Type and/or class of material to be used for sealing joints and cracks will be as shown on the plans.
2) The cutting dimensions for the grooves for the preparation of cracks will be shown on the plans.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When cleaning of armor joints is required, it shall be in accordance with Item 446.

439 - CONCRETE OVERLAY OF STRUCTURE DECKS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Unless otherwise shown, Type I cement is used with concrete overlays and
    Type II cement is used with dense concrete overlays.
2) This is a plans quantity measurement Item.

440 - REINFORCING STEEL

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Shapes of bends shall be shown on the plans.
2) Epoxy coating when required,  shall be shown on the plans.
3) Must copy the note for Item 440 located in ROSCOE File "A8B.REBAR" under Central
    ROSCOE Key "D480504" and include this note in the "General Notes and Specification
    Data" whenever referencing Item 440 in the plans.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When required, blast cleaning shall be in accordance with Item 446.
2) When field welding is required, it shall be in accordance with Item 448.

441 - STEEL STRUCTURES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) This item will govern for the fabrication and erection of structural steel and other materials.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When concrete is placed below grade, the bearing area may be raised to grade
    by beds of mortar conforming to the requirements of Item 421.
2) When shown on the plans, bearing devices shall be placed on preformed fabric pads,
    manufactured in accordance with Item 434.
3) Unless otherwise provided, the application of paint shall conform to the requirements
    of Item 446.
4) When field welding is required, it will be in accordance with Item 448.

442 - METAL FOR STRUCTURES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Specify type of steel strength designation on the plans.
2) If structural steel (HS or structural steel XHS) is specified, then the grade of material will
    be shown on the plans.
3) Specify the class of material for the steel forgings on the plans.
4) The thickness of the steel deep beam rail will be shown on the plans.
5) This is a plans quantity measurement Item.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) Galvanizing is required, it shall be in accordance with Item 445.
2) When painting is required, it shall be in accordance with Item 446.
3) When high strength bolts are required, it shall be in accordance with Item 447.
4) When welding is required, it shall be in accordance with Item 448.
5) When anchor bolts are required, it shall be in accordance with Item 449.

443 - PERMANENT METAL DECK FORMS

1) When required, galvanized coating shall be thoroughly cleaned and repaired
     in accordance with Item 445.

444 - BRIDGE PROTECTIVE ASSEMBLY

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Installed at locations shown on the plans.
2) Details must be shown on the plans.
3) Protective angle length must be shown on the bridge layout when bid as "Bridge Protective
    Assembly", "Protective Angle" or "Protective Angle with Sign Bracket".
4) Need to indicate distance to nearest bent along beam, when angle is required.
