644 - SMALL ROADSIDE SIGN SUPPORTS AND ASSEMBLIES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Show the location and types of roadside sign assemblies on plans.
2) Show the details for fabrication and erection of small roadside sign assemblies on plans.
3) The foundations for the small roadside sign supports are subsidiary to this item.
4) Show the lengths of each sign support and the sign mounting heights on plans.
5) Show the type, spacing, orientation and projection above the finished grade of stub posts on plans.
6) Show the torque of the connection bolts on plans.
7) The removal and relocation of small roadside sign supports and assemblies include signs, sign supports and foundation.
8) Show the locations of the existing roadside sign assemblies to be removed or relocated on plans.
9) Show any sign components that are removed and are to be reused on plans.
10) Show any sign components that are removed and are to be salvaged and become property of the state on plans.
11) Use the following Statewide Standard Details Sheets for the installation details of small roadside sign assemblies:

647 - LARGE ROADSIDE SIGN SUPPORTS AND ASSEMBLIES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Show the locations of the large roadside sign supports must be shown on plans.
2) Show the types and sizes of the large roadside sign supports must be shown on plans.
3) Show the details for the fabrication and erection of the steel supports used for large roadside sign supports must be shown on plans.
4) Show the material for perforated fuse plates and the ultimate tensile strength must be shown on plans.
5) Show the lengths of each sign support and the sign mounting heights must be shown on plans.
6) Show the type, spacing, orientation and projection of stub posts on plans.
7) The upper post sections will be connected to the stub post sections by bolts or other connection devices as shown on plans.
8) Show the torque of the connection bolts on plans.
9) Pay for the foundations of the large roadside sign supports under Item 416.
10) The removal and relocation of large roadside sign supports and assemblies include signs, sign supports and foundation.
11) Show the locations of the existing roadside sign assemblies to be removed or relocated on plans.
12) Show any sign components that are removed and are to be reused on plans.
13) Show any sign components that are removed and are to be salvaged and become property of the state on the plans.
14)  This is a plans quantity measurement item.
15) New drilled shaft foundations will be paid for in accordance with Item 416, “Drilled Shaft Foundations.” New signs will be paid for in accordance with Item 634, “Plywood Signs,” or Item 636, “Aluminum Signs.”

650 - OVERHEAD SIGN SUPPORTS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Show the location of the overhead sign support structures on plans.
2) Show the types, span lengths and vertical clearances of the overhead sign supports on plans.
3) Show the details for the fabrication and erection of overhead sign supports on plans.
4) Show the details of concrete overhead sign support columns and/or spans on plans.
5) Pay for the foundations of the overhead sign supports under Item 416.
6) Show the locations of the existing overhead sign supports to be removed or relocated on plans.
7) Show any components that are removed and are to be reused on plans.
8) Show any components that are removed and are to be salvaged and become property of the state on plans.
9) The span lengths will be the design span lengths shown on the plans rounded up to the next 5 ft. increment.
10) New drilled shaft foundations will be paid for under Item 416, “Drilled Shaft Foundations.” New signs will be paid for under Item 636, “Aluminum Signs.” New sign lights will be paid for under Item 652, “Highway Sign Lighting Fixtures.” New sign walkways will be paid for under Item 654, “Sign Walkways.”

658 - DELINEATOR AND OBJECT MARKER ASSEMBLIES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Show the locations of the delineators and object marker assemblies on plans.
2) Show the locations of the barrier reflectors on plans.
3) Show the color and type of reflector unit(s) for the delineator and/or object marker assemblies on plans.
4) Show the height of the winged channel posts and flexible delineator posts on plans.
5) Show the length and mass of the winged channel post on plans.
6) Show the minimum embedment depth for the winged channel posts on plans.
7) Show the locations of the delineator and/or object marker assemblies to be removed on plans.
8) Show a note on plans to notify the contractor that posts which are deemed by the engineer to be salvageable will be removed so that they will not be damaged by the contractor’s forces.
9) Removal of delineators or object markers is subsidiary to this item, unless otherwise shown on the plans.
10) This is a plans quantity measurement item.
