1) This warranty specification is only to be used on pure traffic
projects.

4) The Department will provide written acceptance as of the last
calendar day of each month for RPMs installed that month and at the
final job acceptance for any remaining installed RPMs.
5) Provide a 60-day performance period that begins the day after
written acceptance.
6) The warrantor must provide a warranty bond on the form
provided and must be approved by the Department.
7) All RPMs failing to meet the specification requirements must

7) An initial performance evaluation must be performed after 7
and before 15 days after MPM are installed to verify that the MPM meet
the performance requirements for retroreflectivity.
8) The Department will provide written acceptance after the
Contractor meets the initial performance requirements.
9) The warranty period is for 3 years and starts the day after
written acceptance.
10) Where double stripes are placed, each stripe will be measured
separately.

SP 6473--001 is required by Change Memo 05-07 which required SS 8094,
Mobile Retroflectivity Data Collection for Pavement Markings, to be
a referenced item.

6986 – LONGITUDINAL PREFABRICATED PAVEMENT MARKINGS
(PPM) WITH WARRANTY
SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) This warranty specification may be used on any striping or
roadway project.
2) Include Special Provision 003---015, "Award and Execution of
Contract" in proposal for warranty bond information.
3) Show the location and placement of the prefabricated pavement
markings on the plans.
4) Show the type, color (white or yellow) and the shape, width,
and sizes as applicable of the prefabricated pavement markings on the
plans.
5) Show traffic control on the plans.
6) Show the guides to mark the lateral location of pavement
markings on the plans.
7) An initial performance evaluation must be performed after
pavement markings are installed to verify that they meet the
performance requirements for color, retroreflectivity and durability.
8) The Department will provide written acceptance after the
Contractor meets the initial performance requirements.
9) The warranty period is for 6 years and starts the day after
written acceptance.
10) Where double stripes are placed, each stripe will be measured
separately.
11) All prefabricated pavement markings failing to meet the
specification requirements must be replaced within 30 days after
notification.
12) This is a plans quantity measurement item.
13) Use the following Statewide Standard Details Sheets for the
installation details of prefabricated pavement markings:

FPM's Freeway Pavement Markings
