San Angelo District Permit Restrictions

County Date Restriction
All Counties, All State Maintained Highways 09-13-11 Over 17ft high:
The permit specialist must send a copy of the permit to the San Angelo District office: SJT_CashPermit@txdot.gov
The mover must contact the San Angelo District Signal/Signs coordinator at (325)947-9208 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday or cell (325) 650-7481 after hours, 48 hours prior to moving in any county San Angelo District.
Tampering with anchor bolts is not allowed.
The mover must use a TxDOT approved signal contractor to disconnect, temporarily raise, and reconnect any overhead mast arm or span wire assemblies. This work will be performed to satisfaction of TxDOT.
All costs will be the responsibility of the mover.
All Counties, All Highways 05-09-11 Modified escort requirements:
  • Over 16’ wide but not exceeding 95’ long: One escort is required.
  • Over 16’ wide and 95’ long: Front and rear escorts are required.
  • Over 18’ wide: Front and rear escorts are required.

    Crockett County, LP466 05-29-08 18’ max height and/or 110’ max length turning to/from SH163.
    Over 110’ long with articulating axles may get district approval to make turn on a case-by-case basis.

    Crockett County, SH163 at IH10 11-20-08 12’ max width, 18’ max height, 65’ max length, and/or no weight turning to/from IH10.
    This restriction also affects all turns to/from IH10 ML and all turns to/from IH10 NFR and SFR.
    Over 12’ wide, 18’ high, 65’long and/or are overweight: The mover must contact the Crockett County Sheriff in Ozona at(325)392-2661 to control traffic when making turns here.
    Travel straight through on SH163, IH10 ML, IH10 EFR, or IH10 SFR is not affected.

    Edwards County, City of Rock Springs 01/04/11 All loads: The mover must contact Michael Van Winkle County Maintenance Supervisor, at (830) 683-2188 (Office) or (830) 683-7183 (Cell Phone) 24 hours prior to traveling in/through Rock Springs.
    Edwards and Kimble Counties, US377 06-06-00 10’ max width, no length, and/or no weight from SH41 to LP481 in Junction.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Edwards County, US377/SH55 in Rocksprings 11-11-08 No permits from W.US377/SH55 to E.US377/SH55 during the following curfew times:
    7am-9am, 12pm-1pm, and 3pm-4pm.

    Kimble County, N.US83 and N.US377 01-13-99 18’ max height through the intersection of these highways located north of Junction due to low traffic lights.
    Kimble County, FM385 03-13-01 No width and/or no weight from US290 to US377.
    Front and rear escorts required for over length permits.
    Kimble County, FM479 07-26-07 12’ max width, 15’ max height, and/or 100,000 lbs GVW except for local origination/destination.
    All over width and/or over length loads are required to have front and rear escorts.

    This is for the entire length of FM479 from FM2169 to the Kimble/Kerr County Line.
    Kimble and Menard Counties, FM1221 07-26-07 12’ max width, 15’ max height, and/or 100,000 lbs GVW except for local origination/destination.

    Menard County, US83 NB to US190 WB 10-23-08 Loads over 95’ long traveling US83 NB to US190 WB: The mover must contact the Menard Sheriff’s office at 325-396-4705 for an escort.

    This restriction does not apply to any turns at the northeast junction of US83 & US67.

    Tom Green County, City of San Angelo 05-26-86 All loads must use LP306 on the west, south and east, and US67 on the north, in San Angelo, unless the load has an origin or destination in the area.

    This affects the SB to SW turn ramp and also making a SB to SW turn at the lights at JCT US67 & SW.BU67/W.LP306.

    FYI: Loads needing to detour the 12’ width WB restriction at W.LP306 will need to use (must be load zoned): “…US67sw, E.FM853w, FM2288s, US67sw…”
    Tom Green County, US67 WB to US87 NB 10-05-04 18’ max width traveling US67 WB to US87 NB.

    All loads must use one of the following detours:
    S.LP306 w&n, crossover @ SP378, US277 WFR s, Enter @ S.US87/S.LP306, US277 s... (FYI: The signs will direct drivers to do this automatically, it is not necessary to type this into the permit).
    or
    S.LP306 w, San Angelo: crossover @ Brodnax Ln, S.LP306 SFR w, US277 s... (This must be typed on the permit if drivers want to use this detour).
    Tom Green County, FM388 07-01-11 11’ max width from Bell St to E.Homestead Circle in San Angelo.
    Bell St is located approximately 2 1/4 miles west of E.LP306.
    E.Homestead Circle is located approximately 1/4 mile east of E.LP306.
    Tom Green County, FM1692 02-11-08 11’ max width from E.FM380 to FM765.
    Tom Green County, FM2084 05-28-08 No width and/or 65’ max length from S.LP110 in Christoval to the Tom Green/Schleicher County Line.
