Eastbound I-30 traffic switch scheduled

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will perform a major traffic switch along I-30 this weekend. Three eastbound lanes of traffic, from Loop 12 to Sylvan Ave., will be shifted to new pavement beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22. The work is scheduled to complete by 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23.

During the switch, eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane and eastbound ramps will be intermittently closed for short periods of time. Westbound traffic should not be affected.

The lane switch marks the end of the mainlane reconstruction for this section of I-30, said Project Manager Makram Bataineh, P.E., assistant area engineer for TxDOT’s Northeast Dallas Area Office.

Message boards notifying motorists of the scheduled lane switch have been placed along the construction route. Work will take place weather permitting.
