spacer spacer spacer TxDOT to ease congestion along US 75 in Collin County

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; January 30, 2006

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is starting a ramp reversal project on US 75 from the President George Bush Turnpike (SH 190) to Spring Creek Parkway on Monday, Jan. 30. The cost of the project is $8.2 million.

"The ramps on US 75 are too close together causing traffic to become congested," said Kelly Selman, P.E., area engineer of TxDOT’s Collin County Area Office. "With this project, we hope to eliminate some of the bottleneck conditions that exist along US 75."

The 320-day job will include reversing ramps between 15th Street and Spring Creek Parkway. Lane closures may occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday along the frontage roads periodically during the construction.

For the project, Selman said entrance and exit ramps will be removed one at a time and reconstructed so that they are not built close in proximity. Crews working on the project will reverse ramps on northbound US 75 first and then work on the ramps on southbound US 75. Intersection improvements at Spring Creek Parkway also will be made to improve traffic flow.

During the project, traffic will not have to detour from the construction area. New signage will be in place to direct motorists to new entrance and exit points while construction is taking place.

Tiseo Paving Company will serve as the contractor of this project. Work on the US 75 ramps is scheduled to end in January 2007.
