Underpass Project Gets FHWA Clearance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; February 15, 2006

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recently announced its finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for a project located in Navarro County. Based on federal regulations, a FONSI is granted when a potential project poses no environmental threat to the area near the project.

Receiving approval from the FHWA allows the Texas Department of Transportation to proceed with a project on SH 14, located approximately three miles south of Richland.

The project will build a bridge over a Union Pacific Railroad underpass and realign the roadway. The estimated cost for this project is $5.4 million.
