LBJ frontage road switches to one-way to reduce collisions FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; March 7, 2006 Traffic change to occur tomorrow morning In an effort to prevent accidents, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will change the direction of a two-way frontage road on I-635 (LBJ) at 9 a.m., Wednesday, March 8, in Northwest Dallas. The westbound frontage road of I-635 from Denton Drive to Harry Hines Boulevard will become a one-way street permanently. "We have wanted to do this for quite some time," said Maurice Pittman, P.E., assistant area engineer of the TxDOT Northwest Dallas Area Office. "By switching the LBJ frontage road to a one-way street, we hope to lower the number of accidents that have occurred on this road." Work on the one-quarter mile project will include striping and placing new signs along the frontage road. This project is a joint effort between TxDOT and the City of Dallas.
