TxDOT to close lanes on Jim Miller Bridge and parts of I-30 for rehabilitation work FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; March 10, 2006 The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin refurbishing the Jim Miller Bridge at I-30 on Monday, March 13. Motorists should expect closures for the bridge project. The cost of the project is more than $1.1 million. During the project, the deck of the bridge will be removed and replaced with a new surface. Phases one and two of the project include the closure of the northbound Jim Miller Bridge lanes until approximately May 8. Northbound traffic will divert to the southbound lanes causing the southbound lanes to become two-way traffic going both northbound and southbound. Closure of all mainlanes on I-30 at Jim Miller Bridge to Saint Francis is scheduled for 2 a.m., Sunday, March 19, through 4 a.m., Monday, March 20. The westbound Saint Francis entrance ramp to I-30 also will close. Traffic will be detoured to the westbound Jim Miller exit. After taking the exit, motorists will follow the frontage road and travel past the Jim Miller Bridge. Upon passing the bridge, motorists will travel back onto I-30. Dynamic message boards on I-30 and other surrounding roadways will display information in regards to closures. Message boards also will be placed near the construction area with detour information. SCR Construction Co., Inc., of Richmond, Texas will serve as the contractor of this project. Work on the Jim Miller Bridge is scheduled to complete in December 2006.
