The Texas Department of Transportation will host two public meetings to discuss preliminary design alternatives to reduce traffic congestion along SH 34 in Kaufman County.

The meetings will be held Tuesday, April 4, at Kaufman High School, located at 3205 South Houston Street in Kaufman, and Thursday, April 6, at Terrell High School, located at 400 Poetry Road in Terrell.

An open house will be held prior to both meetings at 6 p.m., followed by a brief presentation at 7 p.m. A public comment session will be held after the presentation. Maps, drawings and other project information will be on display and project personnel will be on hand to answer citizen questions.

The study corridor extends along SH 34 from SH 243 (Mulberry Street) in Kaufman to the FM 2578 / SH 34 intersection in the City of Terrell. Alternatives under consideration include improving existing SH 34 or building a parallel roadway on another location. The selected alternative would be constructed as a curbed four-lane divided roadway approximately 10 miles in length.
