TxDOT to upgrade FM 1827 in Collin County FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; April 5, 2006 In an effort to enhance roadway safety, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) began work on FM 1827 this week. Located between FM 75 and Altoga, the project costs more than $1.6 million. The FM 1827 job is part of a safety bond project. "There is a high rate of run off accidents that occur on FM 1827," said Kelly Selman, P.E., the area engineer of the TxDOT Collin County Area Office. "We hope to prevent future run off accidents by widening this roadway." The farm-to-market road will be widened from 20 feet to 24 feet. Along with expanding FM 1827, Selman said a new base will be placed on the roadway to provide a smoother ride for motorists. Seventy working days are committed to this 2.8-mile job. During this project, traffic will be narrowed to flow in a one-way direction on a section of FM 1827 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily. Flaggers will direct traffic through the construction area. D.L. Lennon, Inc., of Commerce, serves as the contract for this project. Improvements to FM 1827 are expected to conclude in July 2006.
