County Improving Intersections
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; April 19, 2006 The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), City of Grand Prairie and Dallas County are working together to improve seven Grand Prairie street intersections. Improvements in the $2 million project include lengthening the left turn lanes and updating traffic signal lights. The project will also upgrade the Union Pacific Railroad’s advance warning system at three Jefferson Boulevard intersections. Work at the Carrier Parkway and Roy Orr intersection began in early April. Work will continue to six other locations:
Motorists traveling through these intersections can expect daily closures during the project. All lanes of traffic will remain open during the peak hours of 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Contractor for the project is McMahon Contracting, L.P. of Grand Prairie. Construction is expected to complete in late October 2006.
