TxDOT project to improve SH 342 in Lancaster

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; May 3, 2006

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin a $3.7 million road improvement project on SH 342 (Dallas Avenue), from Beltline Road to Pleasant Run Road, in Lancaster, on Monday, May 18. Enhancements to the roadway include base and concrete pavement replacement and the addition of colored textured concrete at the intersection of Main Street and SH 342.

Residents living along the construction area can expect street closures and restricted access to driveways during the project said Gary Moonshower, P.E., TxDOTs’ Southeast Dallas County area engineer.

"There will be three phases of construction where motorists will not be permitted to drive through portions of SH 342. During the concrete paving phase of construction, several businesses and residences will experience short periods of time where they will not have access to their driveways. But, we do want to keep residents informed on the project’s timeline, so they will know when these closures will occur," Moonshower said.

Construction will begin with the Beltline Road to Main Street section, followed by the Main Street to 4th Street area and then conclude with the 4th Street to 8th Street segment.

"Thru-traffic will not be allowed on the section under construction. While one section is under construction, the other two will operate normally," Moonshower said.

The project is expected to take 13 months to complete. Mesquite based Tiseo Paving Company is the project contractor.
