I-35E mainlanes to close temporarily for construction job in Denton County FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; May 10, 2006 The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will close several mainlanes on southbound I-35E from 7 p.m., Friday, May 12, until 12 p.m., Saturday, May 13. Workers will close two of the three existing southbound lanes from north of FM 3040 to south of Frankford Road. Motorists are advised to bypass the area and plan alternate routes to avoid delays. The closure is part of a pavement marking job for the $86 million, I-35E/SH 121 interchange project being constructed by Balfour Beatty Construction, Inc., the project contractor. Crews will start by closing the two left southbound lanes on I-35E and then switch over to close the remaining lanes. Only one lane of traffic will be open during the pavement marking job. The entrance ramps of the southbound frontage road on to southbound I-35E, between FM 3040 to south of SH 121, also will be closed. The frontage road traffic will need to use the next available entrance ramp near Frankford Road. Law enforcement will be present during the closure. Message boards have been placed along parts of I-35E to alert motorists to the construction activity. The closure will occur weather permitting.
