TxDOT to present FM 407 project at public hearing in Denton County

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; May 11, 2006

Potential improvements to FM 407 will be discussed at a public hearing on Thursday, May 18, at the Lantana Golf Club, located at 800 Golf Club Drive in Lantana. Sponsored by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the hearing will highlight the widening of FM 407 from FM 1830 to Briarhill Boulevard. The event will begin with an open house at 6 p.m. followed by the hearing at 7 p.m.

The six-mile project is located in Argyle, Bartonville, Copper Canyon, Double Oak, Flower Mound, Highland Village and unincorporated areas of Denton County.

Proposed enhancements to FM 407 include converting the existing two-lane, undivided, rural, roadway into a four-lane, divided, urban, roadway with a curb and gutter. Left-turn lanes would be placed at various intersections along the project.

Additional right-of-way (ROW) will need to be acquired for the project. Three homes and two out-buildings, located in Shady Lane Estates, would be potentially displaced for the proposed reconstruction of FM 407.

At the hearing, TxDOT representatives will be present to answer questions regarding the project.

Maps, schematics and the environmental document for the FM 407 improvements will be on display for the public to view. All information about the project is available for inspection and copying at the TxDOT Dallas District Office, located at 4777 East Highway 80 in Mesquite and at the TxDOT Denton County Area Office, located at 2624 West Prairie in Denton. Additionally, all maps and drawings are on file with the Denton County Department of Public Works-Engineering, located at 1505 East McKinney St. in Denton.

A tentative construction schedule, ROW acquisition schedule and information concerning the Relocation and Assistance Program are available at TxDOT offices.
