Northbound FM 1382 Traffic Switch Planned FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; May 25, 2006 The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will switch northbound FM 1382 bridge traffic onto the newly constructed southbound bridge at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 27. The bridges are located near Cedar Hill State Park in southwest Dallas County. Northbound traffic will be detoured into one lane of traffic on the southbound bridge while TxDOT contractor W.W. Webber, Inc., of Houston, rebuilds the northbound bridge. TxDOT Project Manager Keith Long said the bridge will be finished and traffic returned to its normal lanes by the end of August. The southbound bridge reopened to one lane of traffic on Wednesday, May 24, after being closed for more than a year. Construction of the southbound bridge began in January 2004 and was completed in April 2005, but was closed to traffic shortly thereafter when signs of unstable soil appeared along the embankment. The cost of the project is $3.9 million.
