TxDOT to open new SH 121 frontage road on Wednesday in Collin County FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; May 26, 2006 New SH 121 frontage roads between the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) and Ohio Drive will open to traffic at 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, in Collin County. The frontage roads are part of an $84 million reconstruction project between the Dallas North Tollway and FM 2478 (Custer Road) on SH 121. During the opening of the frontage roads, eastbound SH 121 traffic will shift to the new pavement. Westbound traffic will move to the new westbound frontage road from Ohio Drive to the intersection of SH 121 and SH 289 (Preston Road). Motorists will then detour back to the existing eastbound pavement on a temporary basis so that crews can finish paving future westbound frontage road lanes. At the intersection of SH 121 and SH 289, traffic will shift to its final configuration in the intersection box and the traffic signals will be switched from the temporary set to the permanent set. Also opening is Stonebriar Mall Center’s Mall Road B while Mall Road C will be closed so work can be completed on the westbound frontage road. In addition, Parkwood Boulevard at SH 121 will be reduced to one northbound and two southbound thru lanes while the intersection is being reconstructed. Police officers will be positioned at the SH 121 and SH 289 intersection to direct traffic while the signal changes are being made.
