I-30 mainlanes to shut down for bridge work FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; May 31, 2006 Mainlanes on I-30 at Jim Miller Bridge to Saint Francis will close from 2 a.m., Sunday, June 4, through 4 a.m., Monday, June 5. During the closure, eastbound and westbound I-30 from mile marker 52 to 53 will shut down completely. The westbound Saint Francis entrance ramp to I-30 also will close. The 26-hour freeway closure is part of a $1.1 million bridge rehabilitation project on the Jim Miller Bridge. During the project, the deck of the bridge will be removed and replaced with a new surface. Traffic will detour to the eastbound and westbound Jim Miller exit ramps. After exiting, motorists will follow the frontage roads and travel past the Jim Miller Bridge. Upon passing the bridge, motorists will travel back onto I-30. Law enforcement will be present during this closure. Dynamic message boards on I-30 and other surrounding roadways will display information in regards to closures. Message boards also will be placed near the construction area with detour information. SCR Construction Co., Inc., of Richmond, is the contractor of this project. Work on the Jim Miller Bridge is scheduled to complete in December 2006. In the event of inclement weather, this closure will be rescheduled at a later date.
