I-69 Texas is in the early planning stages so the manner in which it will be paid for has not been determined.

Paying for I-69 can be done traditionally using the state highway fund or alternate financing tools such as public-private partnership or pass-through financing. Local communities may decide to develop and fund portions of I-69 in their area and use these alternate financing options.

 Under Texas law, the number of existing free lanes cannot be reduced if a toll road is built.
