| Automobile Theft Prevention Authority Section |
| The grants are awarded for a one year period and are based on 5
categories which they are designed to support. The categories are:
Law Enforcement; Prosecution; Registration/Prevention; Public Awareness;
and Reduce sale of stolen parts. All grants must fall into one of these
categories in order to be eligible for award.

| Aviation |
| The Texas Department of Transportation issues federal and state
financial assistance grants to publicly owned general aviation and
reliever airports included in the Texas Airport System Plan (TASP).
These Aviation Facilities Development Grants are provided for capital
improvements for items such as pavement improvements, land acquisition,
runway extension or relocation, terminal buildings, and new facilities.
These grants require a 10% local match except for terminal building
grants that require a 50% local match. Eligible local governments
request funding through a letter of interest that details the proposed
scope of services for the grant.
Additionally, TxDOT provides financial assistance to publicly owned
TASP general aviation, reliever and non-hub commercial service airports
through the Routine Airport Maintenance Program (RAMP). All eligible
airports can receive up to $30,000 annually in state funds for airport
maintenance.
The RAMP grants require at least a 50% local fund match.

| Human Resources |
| The Conditional Grant Program is primarily a recruitment program
available to students seeking career opportunities in eligible degree
programs. Students must be considered
economically disadvantaged based on federal guidelines. The maximum
amount awarded per semester is $3,000 not to exceed $6,000 per academic
year. Upon graduation, student must work for the department a minimum of
two years.

| Public Transportation |
| The Texas Department of Transportation administers a number of
federal and state grant programs for public transportation projects.
Descriptions of grant programs, on the following pages, are included
below.

| Traffic Operations |
| Grants awarded under The Texas Traffic Safety Program
consist of education, engineering, and enforcement grants conducted in a
partnership between federal, state, and local jurisdictions. The program
provides grant funds and other assistance to reduce the number and
severity of traffic crashes throughout the state. The overall program is
broken down into thirteen program areas (such as police traffic services
and speed control, alcohol and other drug countermeasures, EMS, occupant
protection, traffic records, roadway safety, motorcycle safety, etc).
