Notice Of Public Meeting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, May 31, 2006

The Houston District of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a public meeting regarding the proposed construction of flood mitigation pond(s) along White Oak Bayou near Interstate Highway 10 (IH 10) in Houston, Texas. The open house meeting will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on June 8, 2006 at Sinclair Elementary School (cafeteria), 6410 Grovewood Lane, Houston, TX 77008.

TxDOT is developing preliminary plans for flood mitigation pond(s). The purpose of this meeting is to present the proposed action and project status as well as to listen to public comments and answer questions. TxDOT representatives will be available for informal discussion about the project.

Additional right-of-way will be required for the proposed action. Personnel from the TxDOT Right-of-Way Division will be available to discuss the procedures, benefits, programs, and provide other needed information regarding land acquisition.

Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact TxDOT at 713-802-5072 at least two days prior to the meeting. TxDOT offices are open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding national holidays. Since the public meeting will be conducted in English, any request for language interpreters or other special communication needs should also be made at least two days prior to the public meeting. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.

All interested citizens are invited to attend this meeting and express their views. Written comments relative to the proposed project may be presented at the meeting or submitted to the Director of Project Development, Texas Department of Transportation, P.O. Box 1386, Houston, Texas, 77251-1386, at any time on or before June 18, 2006.
