Contracted Qualification Test

A = Acceptable U = Unacceptable C = Comments

Given an operational sweeper, the candidate will perform the following tasks:

A. Preventive Maintenance: The candidate correctly:

_____1. Checked fluid levels – cold check.
_____2. Checked air cleaner system-serviced, if required.
_____3. Checked tire pressures.
_____4. Inspected tires for cuts/tread-wear/properly mounted.
_____5. Inspected brooms for wear and proper length.
_____6. Lubricated machine.
_____7. Inspected hydraulic lines and connections for leaks.
_____8. Mounted machine properly.
_____9. Started engine – verified fluid levels.
_____10. Operated controls to warm-up hydraulics.
_____11. Checked steering and brakes.
_____12. Checked water levels and mist system.
_____13. Checked lights.
_____14. Checked all safety items.

B. Roading the Machine: The candidate correctly:

_____1. Oriented the brooms, elevator and pick-up head for safe travel.
_____2. Shifted the two-speed axle in high for transport.

_____4. Signaled and made safe turns.
_____5.Wore seat belt.

C. Check the Machine for Proper Adjustments: The candidate correctly:

_____1. Set Auxiliary engine RPMS for proper sweeping.
_____2. Made the gutter broom (and rear broom if equipped) contact the pavement for a mark.
_____3. Made necessary adjustments.
_____4. Checked pick-up head for proper adjustment.
_____5. Check dirt deflectors.
_____6.Demonstrate reverse broom settings. (If equipped)

D. Operating the Sweeper: The candidate correctly:

_____1. Shifts two-speed axle into low for sweeping.
_____2. Set auxiliary engine RPMS for sweeping.
_____3. Set gutter brooms and pick-up head for sweeping.
_____4. Applied water spray system if needed.
_____5. Swept at proper speed for conditions.
_____6. Raised brooms and pick-up head without leaving material.
_____7. Wore seat belt and personal protective equipment (PPE) during sweeping
               operation.

E. Dumping the Hopper: The candidate correctly:

_____1. Shifted the two-speed axle to low.
_____2. Set the auxiliary engine RPMS to 1000.
_____3. Dumped the hopper with smooth control.
_____4. Checked hopper's door for obstruction and closed properly.
_____5. Returned two-speed axle to high.
_____6. Wore PPE during this operation.

F. Cleaning the Sweeper: The candidate correctly:

_____1. Cleaned the hopper.
_____2. Checked the hopper for damage or wear.
_____3. Cleaned the elevator and/or pick-up head.
_____4. Checked the elevator and/or pick-up head for damage or wear.
_____5. Cleaned and inspected the gutter brooms.
_____6. Cleaned and inspected the rear broom.
_____7. Cleaned the cab and chassis.
_____8. Secured the machine when completed.
