Senior Research Scientist - University of Texas Center for Transportation Research

Rob Harrison is a senior research scientist at the Center for Transportation Research - University of Texas at Austin, where he has worked for 28 years and led, or contributed to, over 160 Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) research publications.

His prior experience included working as a transportation economist, first with the United Nations Development Program and then with the World Bank.

Harrison chaired the Transportation Research Board’s Freight Intermodal Terminal Design and Operations Committee from 2002 to 2008 and is a past president of the Transportation Research Forum.

He has published widely in the areas of economic impacts, NAFTA and international trade issues, inland ports, marine and inland waterways, cost/benefit analysis, and transport sector planning, including rail.

Harrison's research studies have been funded by various organizations, including TxDOT, the federal University Transportation Centers Program, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
