Swift and efficient movement of freight is the backbone of the Texas economy and is vital to the continued strength of the state’s economy and the prosperity of its communities. Recognizing the important role freight plays in the state, the Texas Transportation Commission established the Freight Advisory Committee in January 2013. The committee represents an unprecedented level of collaboration between TxDOT and the private sector freight stakeholders in one of the largest and most complex states in the nation. The primary purpose of the committee is to work collaboratively with TxDOT to develop the first comprehensive, integrated and multimodal Texas Freight Mobility Plan. The panel of experts will also serve as a forum for agency transportation decisions affecting freight mobility.
