Embracing and Implementing Solutions
The Texas Transportation Commission is responding to Texas voters’ mandate by progressively exploring and implementing solutions to ease congestion in the metro areas and across our state. During the Commission’s workshop on Sept. 26, 2018, an update was provided on our progress toward reducing congestion.
Texas is growing by about 1,100 people each day. At this rate, the state’s population could double — from 28.3 million to 54 million by 2050. Since the launch of Texas Clear Lanes to tackle the top chokepoints through non-tolled projects in the state’s five metros, $1.6 billion in construction contracts have been awarded, two projects are complete and 16 are underway. The Commission is focused on its plan to keep Texas moving forward.
