(Comanche County)  Section from junction with FM 2247 northward to FM 587 transferred to FM 2247, a decrease of approximately 4.3 miles; this 4.3 miles to remain signed as FM 588 until the 1959 Official Highway Travel Map is released to the public. Section from FM 587 northward to FM 8 at Gorman transferred  FM 679, a decrease of approximately 7.5 miles, a total decrease of approximately 11.8 miles.
