From US 84 in Waco, northwestward via Erath and China Spring to a road intersection approximately 1.0 mile northwest of China Spring, a distance of approximately 14.5 miles.  (McLennan County)  Extended northwestward approximately 4.5 miles from Erath to 1.0 mile northwest of China Spring.

In the city of Waco, segments of FM 1637 were removed from the state highway system from West Lake Shore Drive southeastward along North 19th Street to Wilson Avenue, then southeastward along North 18th Street to Lyle Avenue/Herring Avenue, then eastward along Lyle Avenue/Herring Avenue to North 5th Street/North 4th Street, then southeastward along North 5th Street/North 4th Street to US 84 (West Waco Drive). These removed segments represent a total distance of approximately 4.1 miles. Jurisdiction, control, and maintenance were transferred to the city of Waco.
