From FM 93 in Belton, northeastward approximately 3.1 miles to I-35 at Midway Dr. in Temple, with a spur connection from a point approximately 0.2 mile northwest of I-35 at Midway Dr., northeastward approximately 0.7 mile to another point on I-35, a total distance of approximately 3.8 miles. (Bell County) New description; section of approx. 0.2 mile along Midway Dr. added and portion of existing FM 817 redescribed as spur connection.

In the city of Temple, the entire designation of FS 817 was removed from the state highway system from Midway Drive/South Kegley Road northeastward to I-35, a distance of approximately 0.7 mile.
