From Timpson to Center and then follow US 59 from Center to Carter's Store and then from Carter's Store via Patroon, Milam, Hemphill, Newton, Deweyville, Orange, Port Arthur, Sabine Pass, High Island, Gilchrist, and Port Bolivar to the end of the Ferry Landing in Galveston Bay at Port Bolivar, and from the end of the Ferry Landing on Galveston Island to Galveston. General redescription of Highway System.

Carter's Store via Patroon, Hemphill, Newton, Deweyville, Orange, Port Arthur, Sabine Pass, High Island, Gilchrist, and Port Bolivar to the end of the Ferry Landing in Galveston Bay at Port Bolivar, and from the end of the Ferry Landing on Galveston Island to Galveston. Change "US 59" to "US 96”.
From US 59 in Timpson via Center, Shelbyville, Patroon, Milam, Hemphill, Newton, Deweyville, Orange, Port Arthur, Sabine Pass, High Island, and Gilchrist, to end of Ferry Landing in Galveston Bay at Port Bolivar and from end of Ferry Landing on Galveston Island to Galveston. Section of old route of US 96 from Center to southeast of Shelbyville added.
From US 59 in Timpson via Center, Shelbyville, Milam, Hemphill, Newton, Deweyville, Orange, Port Arthur, Sabine Pass, High Island, and to a point of beginning with the Galveston/Port Bolivar Ferry; and then from a point of termination with the Galveston-Port Bolivar Ferry via Galveston Island to IH 45 and SS 342 in Galveston, a total approximate distance of 264.0 miles. (Shelby, Sabine, Newton, Orange, Jefferson, Chambers, and Galveston Counties) New description; section of approx. 4.1 miles of US 75 from present end of SH 87 west to SS 342 in Galveston transferred to SH 87.
