Mr. Carey joined Goldman Sachs in 2004 and is currently Co- Head of Infrastructure Finance. Before coming to Goldman Sachs, Mr. Carey was the head of the Transportation and Infrastructure Group at Citigroup where he was responsible for all infrastructure and surface transportation efforts. Mr. Carey has also done extensive work in project finance, waste-to-energy, and sports advisory and facility financings. At Goldman Sachs, Mr. Carey concentrates on infrastructure financings and has responsibility for surface transportation issuers throughout the country. Mr. Carey has most recently worked on the Goldman Sachs team that was selected as sole manager for the $552 million in Private Activity Bonds issued for the Capital Beltway HOT Lanes project. This deal represents the largest private equity investment in a start-up toll road to date, and is the first Private Activity Bond financing to come to market from the newly authorized $15 billion federal program established under SAFETEA-LU legislation.
