James Beauchamp served as a legislative aide and committee clerk on both the state and federal level for nearly 12 years, dealing with a variety of legislation.

For the past 5 years, he has served as President of the Midland-Odessa Transportation Alliance, dealing with transportation in the Permian Basin region, including roads, rail and air traffic.  His primary focus at MOTRAN is development of the La Entrada al Pacifico Trade Corridor, where he works with business and governmental interests in Texas, as well as, Chihuahua and Sinaloa, Mexico.

He was appointed in 2003 as a Commissioner for the State Commission on Emergency Communications, overseeing the 9-1-1 and Poison Control Programs and was recently reappointed through 2013. 

He was appointed in 2007 by US Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez to the US-Mexico District Export Council and also serves as a member of the Texas Border Trade Advisory Committee.
