  Founder and Chairman
BP Capital Management

Pickens, founder and chairman, BP Capital Management, is principally responsible for the formulation of the energy futures investment strategy at the company. With more than $4 billion under management, BP Capital manages one of the nation’s most successful energy-oriented investment funds.

In July 2008, Pickens launched an ambitious, self-funded grass-roots campaign aimed at reducing U.S. dependence on imported oil. In television ads, personal appearances and at PickensPlan.com, he spelled out how our dependence on foreign oil is an addiction that threatens our economy, environment and national security, and ties our hands as a nation. His new book, The First Billion is the Hardest, details what this country must do to win back its energy independence.

Pickens is also pursuing a wide range of other business interests, from water marketing, and wind power to ranch development initiatives. He also founded Clean Energy, a company that is advancing the use of natural gas as a cleaner-burning and more cost-effective transportation fuel alternative to gasoline and diesel.
