John assists in directing long and short-range planning for the agency including the establishment of operating objectives and the technical merits of programs and policies.

He graduated from Texas A&M University with honors in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He then began working for TxDOT and now has over 22 years of service.

He started as a summer employee in the Archer City Maintenance Section of the Wichita Falls District and then became an Engineering Assistant in their Bowie Area office.

He was promoted to Area Engineer in 1993 where he oversaw the design, construction, and maintenance of numerous highway and bridge projects.

In 1999 he was selected as the Director of Transportation Planning & Development for the Wichita Falls District where he worked with elected officials and local communities to develop region wide improvements to the transportation system.

In 2003 John was named District Engineer for the Beaumont District. He supervised the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of a large and diverse transportation network.
