Ms. Lorelei St. James is an Acting Director in the Dallas Field Office of the U.S. Government Accountability Office. She is the co-Director of the GAO Team Texas Recovery Act work where she oversees GAO’s work on the Texas use of Recovery Act funds. GAO’s work in this area includes Recovery Act funds for transportation, public housing, education, and energy-related programs in Texas.

Ms. St. James joined GAO’s Dallas Regional Office in 1983. In 1985, she was selected to join GAO’s European Office in Frankfurt, Germany. Upon returning from Europe in 1989, she was assigned to GAO’s Atlanta Regional Office where she led numerous reviews of IRS collection and customer service programs.

Ms. St. James holds a Masters in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, a Master of Arts in Economics, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Ms. St. James received a GAO Equal Employment Opportunity award and a GAO Teamwork award in 2007. She previously received the Meritorious Service Award in 2004 and the Defense Capabilities and Management Team’s Team Award in 2003.
