100 - PREPARING RIGHT OF WAY

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits must be shown on the plans.
2) Trees, shrubs and other landscape features specified for preservation should
     be clearly shown on the plans.
3) When removing trees, specify the diameter of the trees being removed.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When wells are included on the plans, they shall be paid for in accordance with Item 103.

104 - REMOVING CONCRETE

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits and/or locations of removal must be shown on the plans.
2) Removal of monolithic curbs and/or dowel concrete curbs on concrete pavement is
    considered part of the concrete pavement and will not be measured separately for payment.
3) This is a plans quantity measurement Item.
4) Removal of stabilized base or asphaltic concrete will be paid for by the applicable bid items,
    unless otherwise shown on the plans.

105 - REMOVING STABILIZED BASE AND/OR ASPHALTIC PAVEMENT

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Locations and depth must be shown on the plans.

3) Placement of salvaged material in stockpiles will conform to the dimensions and
    requirements shown on the plans.
4) This is a plans quantity measurement Item.

106 - OBLITERATING ABANDONED ROAD

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits must be shown on the plans.
2) Removal of structures will be considered subsidiary to this Item.
3) Removal of any asphaltic material will be paid for in conformance with applicable bid
    items and can be stockpiled at locations shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.

110 - EXCAVATION

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Roadway, channel and/or special excavation areas must be shown on the plans.
2) This is a plans quantity measurement Item.
3) Excavation in backfill areas of retaining walls will not be measured for payment.  Limits of
     measurement for excavation in retaining wall areas will be as shown on the following Statewide
     Standard Details Sheet:

    EMRW-95(M)    Earthwork Measurement at Retaining Walls

4) When a slide occurs, not due to the Contractors negligence or operation, payments for removal
     and disposal of the slide material will be in accordance with Article 9.3.
5) Shrinkage or swelling factors will not be considered in determining the calculated quantities.

112 - SUBGRADE WIDENING

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits must be shown on the plans.
2) Show areas to be widened on the typical section(s).

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When Proof Rolling is required, it will be in accordance with Item 216.

132 - EMBANKMENT

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits and/or locations for embankments must be shown on the plans.
2) Type C material must conform to the specification requirements shown on the plans.
3) For Type D material, the required excavation areas must be shown on the plans.
4) Type of compaction must be specified on the plans.
5) Retaining wall backfill areas which are also in embankment areas will be measured for
    payment as embankment except as shown on the plans.  Limits of measurement for embankment
    in retaining wall areas will be as shown on the following Statewide Standard Details Sheet:

6) Shrinkage or swelling factors will not be considered in determining the calculated quantities.
7) Class 3 measurement is a plans quantity measurement Item.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When Proof Rolling is required, it will be in accordance with Item 216.

134 - BACKFILLING PAVEMENT EDGES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits must be shown on the plans.
2) Show areas to be backfilled on the typical section(s).
3) Type A requirements must be shown on the plans.
4) When emulsified asphalt is to be applied, the rate of application and type must be shown on the plans.
5) Type of fertilizer analysis and rate of application must be shown on the plans.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When Type C backfill is specified on the plans, it will be paid for in accordance with Item 162.
2) When fertilizer is specified on the plans, it will be paid for in accordance with Item 166.
3) When emulsified asphalt is specified on the plans, it will be paid for in accordance with Item 300.

152 - ROAD GRADER WORK

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Limits must be shown on the plans.
2) Minimum length of road grader work section is 150 meters, with the exception of bridge
    replacement projects.
3) Type of compaction must be specified on the plans.
4) If "Scraper Work" and/or "Bulldozer Work" is specified on the plans, this work will be paid
    for in accordance with those Items, respectively.

3) The rate of application of water can be shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer
    and will be paid for in accordance with Item 168.
4) Type of fertilizer analysis and rate of application, must be shown on the plans.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) If a tacking agent is used for straw or hay mulch, it will be paid for in accordance with Item 300.

164 - SEEDING FOR EROSION CONTROL

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Seeding will be distributed over the areas shown on the plans or where directed by the Engineer.
2) The rate of application of water can be shown on the plans or can be as directed by the Engineer
    and will be paid for in accordance with Item 168.
3) Type of fertilizer analysis and rate of application must be shown on the plans.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) If soil retention blankets are specified on plans, they will be paid for in accordance with Item 169.
2) If straw or hay mulch is used, it will be paid for in accordance with Item 300.

170 - IRRIGATION SYSTEM

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Requirements for miscellaneous accessories must be shown on the plans.
2) Limits and/or locations of work must be shown on the plans.
3) Size of pipe and fittings must be shown on the plans.
4) Location of sprinkler heads must be shown on the plans.
5) All boring locations (if needed) must be shown on the plans.
6) When allowed on the plans, all jetting operation locations must be shown.
7) Locations for pipe encasement (if needed) must be shown on the plans.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) Protection methods for excavations greater than 1.5 meters in depth will be paid for as required under
    Item 402, "Trench Excavation Protection" or Item 403, "Temporary Special Shoring".

180 - WILDFLOWER SEEDING

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) The amount and type of seed planting must be shown on the plans.
2) Seed will be sown in rates based on pure live seed (PLS) per hectare as shown on the plans and
    will be distributed over the areas shown on the plans or where directed by the Engineer.

192 - ROADSIDE PLANTING AND ESTABLISHMENT

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Location and size of plants must be shown on the plans.
2) Ball sizes for "Balled or Burlapped Stock", "Collected Stock", and/or "Bag Grown Stock" must
    be shown on the plans.
3) Approved minimum root spread and condition for "Bare Root Stock" must be as shown on the plans.
4) Backfill material will be mixed in proportions shown on the plans.
5) Plant supports will be of the type shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer.
6) Tree wrapping will be of the type shown on the plans.
7) Pesticides, including herbicides, must be of the types shown on the plans.
8) Type of fertilizer analysis, frequency and rate of application must be shown on the plans.
9) Areas to be mowed or trimmed, mowing heights and frequency must be shown on the plans.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When fertilizer is shown on the plans, it will be paid for in accordance with Item 166.
2) When an Irrigation System is required, it will be paid for in accordance with Item 170.

193 - LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Locations and/or areas for landscape maintenance can be shown on the plans or as directed
    by the Engineer.
2) Pesticides, including herbicides, must be of the types shown on the plans.
3) Type of fertilizer analysis, frequency and rate of application must be shown on the plans.
4) Areas to be mowed or trimmed, mowing heights and frequency must be shown on the plans.
5) Plant supports will be of the type shown on the plans and/or as directed by the Engineer.
6) For plant replacement (if needed), the plants replaced will be of the species and sizes as
    shown on the plans and will be replaced according to the placement and backfilling details
    shown on the plans.
7) Areas to be watered and rates of application can be shown on the plans or as directed by the
    Engineer if irrigation system is not available.
8) The existing condition of the irrigation system and any known deficiencies must be shown on the plans.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) When "Landscape Maintenance" is used in conjunction with Item 192, all work is to be accomplished
     subsequent to the work shown in Item 192.
2) When Vegetative Watering is required, it will be in accordance with Item 168.
