In Midland, from the junction of SH 158 and SL 250 northeastward and southeastward to SH 349 junction; then southward concurrent with SH 349 for approximately 0.6 mile; then southeastward to IH 20; an approximate total distance of 7.7 miles. (Midland County)  As requested by district, this mileage (except for SH 349 concurrency) transferred from SS 546.

In Midland, from the SH 158 and SL 250 junction eastward and southeastward to BI 20-E, an approximate distance of 5.4 miles. (Midland County) Route was extended from SL 268 southward approximately 1.8 miles to IH 20, mileage was transferred from SH 58; an approximate 1.2 mile segment of the old alignment from SL 268 to BS 349-C was transferred to the city; and an approximate 2.4 mile segment of the old alignment from BS 349-C to SH 158 was transferred to SH 140.
