BUSINESS U. S. HIGHWAY NO. 83-S

From US 83 east of La Joya, southeastward and northeastward via Palmview, Mission, McAllen, Pharr, San Juan, Alamo, Donna, Weslaco, Mercedes, and La Feria, to US 77 and US 83 in Harlingen, a total distance of approximately 47.0 miles. (Hidalgo and Cameron Counties)  As requested by district, mileage transferred from SL 374.

In and near the cities of La Joya and Penitas, a segment of US 83 was redesignated on the state highway system as Business US Highway 83-S (BU 83-S) from approximately 1.7 miles east of FM 886 (El Faro Road) eastward to the intersection of existing BU 83-S, a total distance of approximately 6.3 miles.
