Beginning approximately 10 miles south of the New Mexico / Texas state line in Culberson County, the entirety of FM 3541 was redesignated as FM 2185 from the intersection of RM 652 southward to the terminus of current FM 3541, a distance of approximately 6.3 milesa. Additionally, FM 2185 was extended from the southern terminus of current FM 3541, southward along Smileys Road, Weatherby Road, County Road 501, Nevel Road, and Rustler Springs Road to the intersection of Looney Spur Road and current FM 2185, a distance of approximately 30.0 milesb.
