In Mt. Pleasant, from US 271 southeastward to FM 144, then southeastward concurrent with FM 144 approximately 0.5 mile, then southeastward to US 259 in Daingerfield, then southward concurrent with US 259 approximately 1.0 mile to SH 11, then southeastward concurrent with US 259 and SH 11 approximately 0.3 mile, then southeastward concurrent with SH 11 approximately 7.5 miles to east of Hot Springs, then southeastward via Avinger to Jefferson, then northward to the Texas-Louisiana State Line. (Titus, Morris, Case, and Marion Counties)  Description revised to reflect concurrent designations.

In the city of Mount Pleasant, a segment of US 271 was redesignated on the state highway system as US 67 with a concurrency of SH 49 from the intersection of the proposed new location of US 271 southeastward to the intersection of Elsye Street (the proposed new location of US 67), a distance of approximately 0.4 mile^a.

Additionally, a segment of US 271 was redesignated on the state highway system as SH 49 from Elsye Street (the proposed new location of US 67) southeastward to the intersection of existing US 271 (the proposed new location of BU 271-E), a distance of approximately 1.6 miles^b.
