ITEM NO - TITLE AND REQUIREMENTS

610 - ROADWAY ILLUMINATION ASSEMBLIES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1) Show locations and types of roadway illumination assemblies to be installed on plans.
2)  Show locations and types of roadway illumination assemblies to be relocated on plans. The roadway illumination assemblies will be reinstalled at the locations shown on plans.
3)  Show locations and types of roadway illumination assemblies to be removed on plans.
4)  Pay for the foundations of roadway illumination assemblies under Item 416.
5)  New drilled shaft foundations will be paid for under Item 416, “Drilled Shaft Foundations.” New concrete riprap placed around foundations will be paid for under Item 432, “Riprap.” New conduit will be paid for under Item 618, “Conduit.” New conductors, except the conductors internal to the pole, will be paid for under Item 620, “Electrical Conductors.” New duct cable will be paid for under Item 622, “Duct Cable.” New ground boxes will be paid for under Item 624, “Ground Boxes.” New electrical services will be paid for under Item 628, “Electrical Services.”.
6)  Use the following Statewide Standard Details Sheets for the fabrication, installation, relocation, and removal of roadway illumination assemblies:

613 - HIGH MAST ILLUMINATION POLES

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1)  Show locations and heights of the high mast illumination poles on plans.
2)  The airway-highway clearance must be approved by the FAA if located near an airport and the high mast illumination assemblies protrude into the navigable air space.  This should be handled in the early stages of plan development.
3)  Pay for the foundations of the high mast illumination poles under Item 416.
4)  All pole shaft sections will be match-marked as shown on plans.
5)  Show riprap around pole foundations on plans.
6)  New drilled shaft foundations will be paid for under Item 416, “Drilled Shaft Foundations.” New riprap will be paid for under Item 432, “Riprap.” New high mast illumination assemblies will be paid for under Item 614, “High Mast Illumination Assemblies.” New ground boxes will be paid for under Item 624, “Ground Boxes.” New electrical Services will be paid for under Item 628, “Electrical Services.”
7)  Use the following Statewide Standard Details Sheets for the fabrication and installation of high mast illumination poles:

617 - TEMPORARY ROADWAY ILLUMINATION

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1)  Any equipment furnished by the department will be picked up by the contractor at locations shown on plans.
2)  Locations and types of temporary roadway illumination to be installed or relocated must be shown on plans.
3)  Any unused or salvageable equipment will be returned to the department by the contractor at the location shown on plans.
4)  The following Statewide Standard Details Sheets may be required for the temporary lighting system:

634 - PLYWOOD SIGNS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1)  Show the location and details of the fabrication and erection of the plywood signs must be shown on plans.
2)  Show the types and sizes of the plywood signs must be shown on plans.
3)  Show the colors and types of sign faces on plans.
4)  Show sign messages (sizes, types and colors) on plans.
5)  Show sign blanks sizes and shapes on plans.
6)  Show the locations of the existing roadside signs to be replaced or refurbished on plans.
7)  Refurbishing the roadside signs can include new messages and mounting hardware when shown on plans.
8)  Show new reflectorized legends and/or supplemental signs on plans.
9)  Show any sign components that are removed and are to be reused on plans.
10) Show any sign components that are removed and are to be salvaged and become property of the state on plans.
11) This is a plans quantity measurement item.

636 - ALUMINUM SIGNS

SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1)  Show the location and details of the fabrication and erection of the aluminum and fiberglass signs on plans.
2)  Show the types and sizes of the aluminum and fiberglass signs on plans.
3)  When specifying fiberglass signs, submit a sole source justification letter explaining why fiberglass signs are needed. (ex. theft problem with aluminum signs).
4)  Show the colors and types of sign faces on plans.
5)  Show the sizes, types and colors of sign messages on plans.
6)  Show on the plans whenever parent sign face attachments (route markers, yellow exit panels, etc.) are to be Type A aluminum signs rather than direct applied sheeting.
7)  Show the sizes, types and shapes of sign blanks on plans.
8)  Show the locations of the existing roadside signs to be replaced or refurbished on plans.
9)  Refurbishing the roadside signs can include new messages and mounting hardware when shown on plans.
10)  Show new reflectorized legends and/or supplemental signs on plans.
