Contracted Qualification Test

Given an operational maintainer, the candidate will perform the following tasks:

A.  PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE: The candidate correctly:

_____1. Checked fluid levels – cold check.
_____2. Checked air cleaner system – serviced if required.
_____3. Checked tire pressure.
_____4. Inspected tires for cuts/tread wear/proper mounting.
_____5. Inspected all components of machine.
_____6. Lubricated machine.
_____7. Inspected hydraulic lines and connections.
_____8. Mounted machine.
_____9. Started engine – verified fluid levels.
_____10. Operated controls to warm up hydraulics.
_____11. Checked lights and rotating beacon.
_____12. Checked articulation unlocked.
_____13. Checked steering and brakes.
_____14. Checked all safety items.

E.  CUTTING BACK SLOPE: The candidate correctly:

_____5. Disengaged the saddle locking pin. (If equipped)
_____6. Retracted left lift cylinder – shifted turn table to right – extended right lift cylinder.
_____7. Aligned lock pin indicator – engaged lock pin. (If equipped)
_____8. Lifted the blade 4 or 5 inches.
_____9. Rotated the blade counterclockwise – toe forward.
_____10. Retracted the right lift cylinder – extended left lift cylinder– rotated turn table – adjusted turn table side shift and pitch – side shifted blade to desired position.
_____11. Side shifted the turn table and blade toward the back slope.
_____12. Positioned the heel of the blade in center of rear tire in ditch – pitched the blade almost all the way forward.
_____13. Drove with wheels in the vee ditch.
_____14. Deposited material up on the shoulder slope.
_____15. Made a clean-up pass to move material further up shoulder slope.
_____16. Wore seat belt.

F.  CUTTING A FLAT BOTTOM DITCH: The candidate correctly:

_____1. Cut a vee ditch along the ditch line for the back slope.

_____4. Positioned the toe of the blade behind the front tire in bottom of first vee ditch.
_____5. Positioned the heel of the blade in bottom of last vee ditch.
_____6. Cut bottom of ditch.
_____7. Moved the material up the slope.
_____8. Cut the back slope.
_____9. Wore seat belt.
